About the Author Kevin Edward Proulx (1969 - present) was born in West Hill, Ontario, a suburb of the City of Toronto, Canada, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Toronto in 1992.In the past he has held positions with Canadian publishers including Nelson Canada, McClelland & Stewart, and Carswell / Thomson where he was an editor on "Legal Words & Phrases Judicially Defined". Kevin was also employed for nearly a decade with LORD Cultural Resources Planning & Management Inc.Kevin is an accomplished photographer, and runs his own business, Third Eye Photographics -- his photo of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford posing with a costumed corpse and gnawing on a simulated human arm at the Toronto Zombie Walk was featured on the Jimmy Kimmel late-night talk show in 2014.A certified SCUBA diver who loves to travel, Kevin also maintains what he likes to refer to as a "muggle" career in the public sector. Entertaining and Informative -- Review by Edward Knight By A Customer Despite the ominous title, Kevin Proulx's FEAR TO THE WORLD is actually a surprisingly engaging collection of interviews with American and British writers specializing in genre fiction of the sci-fi and horror variety. Proulx manages to include both the famous, such as Clive Barker and Ramsey Campbell, and equally deserving, but often overlooked, authors such as Joe R. Lansdale, George R. R. Martin, F. Paul Wilson and Steve Rasnic Tem. Sporting eleven previously unpublished interviews in all, he completes the line-up with John Farris, Richard Christian Matheson, J. N. Williamson, T. M. Wright and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.The employment of a standard set of questions is not concealed by Proulx. Although this lends the dialogue a somewhat contrived cohesive structure, the depth and quality of many of the responses is sure to compel even those who would generally scorn genre fiction out of hand. After reading Tem discuss his writing in terms of the influences of Diane Arbus, Carl Dreyer, and his son's own death, one feels obligated to investigate the fiction. Proulx is very adept at getting his subjects to open up, and topics such as pornography and censorship, the niceties of writing for a living, and philosophical musings on the meaning of life and death are not uncommon. He even manages to get a few of these writers to reveal hopes, fears, dreams, and past pseudonyms.The content of FEAR TO THE WORLD possesses a genuine frankness and down-to-earth quality not often discerned in books of this type. There is also an undeniably thorough index and recommended reading list, but comprehensive bibliographies for each of the authors are conspicuous in their absence. Nonetheless, this is a superior product. The cover art is (literally) a scream. Even if one doesn't recognize the names of all of the authors featured, Proulx's interviews provide and entertaining and informative read.

Betty Umstead takes you on a journey that lets you know when the dusts settles you can still stand. It is amazing how she put so much in 100 pages and to find humor in the midst of it all. I know about prayer and how God can work it out for the good. I have friends and relatives who are breast cancer thrivers after reading this book I have a better understanding of what they went through. Everyone situation was different but the bottom line was the same...to live. The work book was a good idea too. Thanks for sharing may it bless others to continue their journey you never know where it may lead you.

By Sophia Thompson Betty does a wonderful job of introducing the reader to the diagnosis of breast cancer. Her book defines the love of a spouse, a friend, and family. The humor lightens but does not diminish the seriousness of her message. Her message is clear know your source of strength and you will be able to laugh after the cry. Her book reveals God's amazing Grace!

About the Author I obtained my college education by attending night classes at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California, giving special interests to the field of computer programming. It was shortly after that when I made the move to Colorado and have remained here ever since. I first began writing fiction in 1997 while on a bowhunting trip to the majestic Sangre De Cristo Mountains of beautiful central Colorado. The desire to write that initial novel just sort of flared up after having read a few books by Author/Evangelist, Al Lacy. I wrote that first novel, MUSTANG JUSTICE, on a notepad with a pencil (well…a few pencils really). One thing led to another and now, as of the time of this writing, I find myself not only the father of five wonderful daughters, but have also played a major role in the creation of 23 additional offspring...the titles of which are listed in the ‘Books by r. William Rogers’ section of my books. Having served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, I got through that all in one piece and now enjoy a leisurely life in Widefield, Colorado, with my wife of many years.

William Rogers has climbed my western literature ladder to a pretty lofty height.exclusively reading the likes of Henry, Grey, and Lamoure, that literary field has just broadened.

By Mommynificent Neither the title nor the synopsis for this book impressed me, but I read it as part of the Splash collection of novellas and it actually ended up being one of my favorites. I enjoyed the young adult feel as well as the first person narrative. I found the characters really engaging – I loved Alivia’s tender heart for children and the little girl she was a nanny for. And I loved the new life guard CJ – I really enjoyed the slow reveal of who he was and why he had really moved to town. And he was so sweet in the way he treated not only Alivia but also his sisters. I highly recommend this one!

I loved how Carol Moncado intertwines many characters of her other books into this story. I think Serenity Landing would be a fun place to live. It was also fun to read while I'm sitting on summer break. I can just picture the swimming pool and the heat.Great book to read! Just what you need for a quick and lighthearted read.

Alivia and CJ were great, lifeguards, and CJ was just a straight-out awesome guy. The story was well told and interesting and held my interest the whole way through. 5 stars

Much of his wisdom also applies to all human endeavors.I sorted the Ahas into two categories:1) Advice I have been giving to my teams expressed much better by Alex. Two examples: (a) done is always better than perfect, and (b) it's possible to get 'anything' you want but not 'everything' you want. There are many more in this category.2) Advice for myself. One of many examples is "It pays to polarize prospects" I understand this to mean quickly sorting prospects into Customer-in-Waiting or Never-will-be-a-Customer. I think this advice will save me hundreds of hours and much frustration.Bonus in the book: a link to the 4-minute Serial Entrepreneur Assessment. This assessment is fun and provides some great insights.

I love this book because it reminds me why I am an entrepreneur. I especially like the quote that reminded me that making the same new year’s resolution or goal each year is something to be looked at. WOW! A must read. But Jenny's coffee shop is mentioned as "bakery" quite a few times, although there's no mention of any bakery stuff in the whole book. .I usually stay as far away as possible if there's a mention of 'cozy' in the description. This was an accidental download, but it was free, so....I understand the cat is part of the story, but really - animals as a rule are not even allowed in food establishments and this cat is all over the place - including the counter. And no one complaints?Questioning "suspects" with the cat in her arms or on her lap? Really?And Jenny's relationship with "the new guy in town" happens just out of the blue.None of the characters in this book really appealed to me all that much, But it was a quick read, and it passed the time on a rainy afternoon.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Connect to Only Disconnect - You Will Not Be Disappointed! By James Beamon I am amazed by what's going on here in Only Disconnect. There's a crazy amount of content that's diverse in both tone and theme. There are funny stories such as "Super Bugs" by Robert Lowell Russell (where a sleepwalking man's loosely affiliated bacteria, viruses and fungi come together to make their host a super hero while he's asleep) and "Email Recovered from Genetech Debris, Lieutenant Jeffrey Abramowitz Investigating" (a hilarious rejection letter about investing in manbears). There are poignant stories such as "Just Visualate (a look at the future of online dating) and "the Eyes in the Water" by Matt Weinburg (a man pieces together his uncle's expriments and last days). Sitting alongside both funny and poignant are action stories such as "Killing the Tree Spirit" by Adria Laycraft (the name says it all) and "She Dies" by Jason Lairamore (a gamer girl has to adjust to life outside the virtual). The thirteen stories Julianna Rew has put together for this collection are well worth the 3 bucks to check out. I imagine you'll find some better than others, given that every one of us has our own reading preferences, but I found virtually all of them enjoyable for one reason or another.Some I thought ended a bit abruptly such as "Aqua Equal" by Jonathan Shipley (a college student adjusts to life on an interstellar campus not used to an Earthly presence they treat as sentient monkeys) and "Carnival of Colours" by Evelyn Deshane (a guy post-alien-occupation can see colors in spoken words). I think the abrupt ending had to do with both a sense that some things just didn't get resolved as well as truly masterful world building, with so much stuff going for it I just plain wanted more. My personal favorite was "A House of Mirrors" by Stephanie Flood, a Chose Your Own Adventure-like story featuring a genre-savvy protagonist who freely admits that she hates these kinds of stories yet is stuck in it regardless.Again, you really can't go wrong here. Given the range of stories presented, I suspect you'll find something you'll like within these pages... and probably more than once.

This book has a timely premise – the increasing presence of the net and interconnectivity and the varied problems this may cause. I could easily see this theme falling into a repetition of the same idea over and over but the diversity of storylines and settings in this book keeps things fresh and moving. Most of the authors handle their subjects with style and finesse. Lots of thought-provoking stories here for futurists and fans of science fiction, but the great thing is you don’t have to be a technophile to understand these tales (or else I would have been hopelessly lost). Recommended.

About the Author Rev. Allen Smith was born in the little town of Neoga, IL in 1951. He was saved at the early age of 12 years, and started preaching when he was just 15. He has been preaching and teaching now for 46 years. He has been a pastor for over 30 years of that time. Rev. Smith has been a featured speaker at camp-meetings and conventions down through the years. In addition, he spent 3 years as president of International Bible College and Seminary in DeSoto, Missouri, where he authored 9 different syllabi for the Seminary. Rev. Smith presently holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Education, a Doctor of Divinity Degree, and a Doctor of Theology Degree and has published several articles, in nationwide religious publications. From October of 1993 until July of 2010, Rev. Smith published a nation-wide Southern Gospel news magazine called SGN Scoops Digital. He is currently the founder and President of Lighthouse International Ministries which is a missionary outreach program. Currently, Rev. It describes the how, what, and who of worship that accelerates our spirit connection with the throne of grace. I discovered and embraced a renewed hope through reading this book. I have a deeper understanding of what it means to truly worship our Lord according to John 4:23. As the author mentions, it is through total surrender to God, giving of ourselves through praise, and preparing our minds (among other truths) that we find the joy, peace, and fulfillment intended by God through our worship. As Rev. Allen states, "When you truly worship God, you come into His presence.... the presence of perfect power, perfect holiness, perfect glory, along with fear, and awe of God's majesty and power..." This to me is the ultimate connection of our faith. Readers will find this book not only refreshing but revealing of the essence of worship.

A biblical perspective on the true worship of God By Amazon Customer Dr. Smith creates a compelling argument for worship being the most important need in the church today and yet is a misunderstood element. In many churches the act of worship has become nothing more than a self-centered display of emotions which has nothing to do with the worship of the one true God.I especially appreciated that he took the time to take us to Leviticus, which is the handbook of worship for Israel and built the case for our basis of worship in the New Testament. We do not offer animals as a part of our worship activities, but we are to bow down before the Lamb of God, who was our sacrifice.

In this age of Churches bending over backwards trying to entertain seekers, trying to tickle their ears with the latest theological fad it is very heartening to read rock solid wisdom guiding the reader to worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Reminding us that our God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

It is a wonderful book. Since they are only 4, my daughter will read the books to the boys. Thanks Dr. Winters for a wonderful book.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good Read By Book Worm The first part of this story was quiet good. This book dealt with the a lot of emotions and how they were handled. Kayden Gray is a very complex person and most of it comes from his father. Kayden has fallen head over heels in love with Amy and than learns that she has cancer. He can not over come the loss so he leaves London and moves to L.A. with his rock band. When he gets word that his mother is dying he goes back home to be with his mother. Being back home brings all the old hurts back plus some new ones. He has never lived up to what his father wants him to be so there is still a wall between them. What will Kayden do will he stay in London or run back to L.A.? A very good read.
