Providing a theoretical overview of each of these existential stances, Jason Bahbak Mohaghegh engages the views of thinkers and artists of the last several decades, primarily from Iran, but also from Arab, Turkish, North African, Armenian, Afghani, Chechen, and Kurdish backgrounds. He explores various dimensions of the Middle Eastern experience at the threshold of the postmodern moment, including revolutionary ideology, avant-garde literature, new-wave cinema, and radical-extremist thought. The profound reinvention of concepts characteristic of such work fatalism, insurrection, disappearance, siege provide unique interpretations and confrontations with the modern period and its relationship to those who presumably fall outside its boundaries of self-consciousness. Expanding the conversation, Mohaghegh contrasts the impressions of the Middle Eastern figures considered with those of the most incisive Western thinkers of modernity, such as Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Baudrillard, to offer an original global vision that crosses the East-West divide."

Five Stars By James Gregory I was inspired to read this after having read Mohaghegh's translations of Ahmad Shamlu's poetry in Born Upon the Dark Spear. I was perpetually dissatisfied with the interpretations offered by Samantha Power (shorthand for Harvard/ Washington/ the Beltway) for the state of the Middle East, and have found this work to be a perfect counterpoint to the polished idiocy of the pundits.Mohaghegh's book is both more visceral and more erudite than I had hoped for. Writers whom I had never heard of, and whom I doubt have ever been translated before, flense the banal political chatter from the subject to reveal and revel in the raw nerves pulsing beneath. These are living insurgents, poets, mystics, and sectarians; other than Faisal Devji I can think of no one who has taken the time to examine as many primary works before offering his thoughts; one does not want to confused an idea a thing for the thing itself, and this book is a rare product of one who has listened to the voices of radicals before simply denouncing them.

Netflix culture and processes are very similar hence I could relate and even agree with most of the suggestions here. I think the part for managers or even aspiring leaders is really worth a read. The one thing that stood out for me is the authors analogy at the end about 'information'How the general belief of information is power is counter intuitive. Instead information should be thought of as water. You don't entrap all of it in dams, instead you let it flow and it will give new life. In my short career I've seen both happen, and it's no doubt in my mind that a culture of secrecy breeds incompetence.

By leslie As one of the students in Lisa Smith's Bible study class I've been excitedly awaiting the release of her first book. Over the years I've heard tidbits, here and there, about her adventures with Oscar. What a delight to hear the whole story of Oscar from beginning to end as well as tales from the fish pond and garden! Lisa has the rare gift of seeking and finding the hand of God in all of life's experiences, whether in her backyard or on her back in a hospital bed! Not only does she share the lessons she's learned from life and the Word of God but in the last section of the book she teaches one how to glean these truths for oneself in a study of scripture. I will read this book many times over and consider it one of my treasures!

Storrie Sweet, nightingale, Lisa Worthey Smith found her gift of healing when she found Oscar the Extraordinary Hummingbird dying in her backyard. She got busy removing the tangled mess squeezing the life out of him and called for professional help. She was careful to apply each detail ccording to their expert advice to help nurse her foster baby back to life. Lisa's tender care and her sweet words she poured over her pitiful bird was straight from her heart! It almost made me wish I had landed in her backyard. There's a definite bonding between mama Lisa and Oscar since they do come from the same Creator. And, like Jesus, Lisa saw and shared the spiritual lesson she saw in Oscar's healing. The healing words she poured over Oscar the Hummingbird daily, also worked on me as well!This book is a great, easy read for those who not only love animals but it provides a healing, Biblical lesson for the soul!

The guy she finds is Ethan (sound familiar?) a rich billionaire type man who initially mistakes her for a call girl and hilarity ensues.  Once Jasmine sets him straight it’s back to his place.I read the original series this was from and was a little confused by the setup at first, but it all made sense in the end! If you liked the series then this is a good addition.

Admittedly, you won’t find a long and engaging plot, but what you do get is some more of Jasmine and Ethan’s relationship from Cynthia Dane's universe. After finishing "The Billion Dollar Contract" I was ready for more, and the author delivered! I hope that there are more shorts like these in the future so I can get to know these characters some more.

Same feelings when you felt first time By Charles Walters I was accustomed with reading story books containing little sexual content in my childhood time, not just then, at the time of my adolescence period. I was surely romanced, eagerness to discover something unknown to me made me mad. After a long while I have this couple of book, full with Viking romance as well as Highlander romance. Same feelings drove me away. I got such momentum to thrill and instigate myself every moment. Romantic suspense added more spice and extra flavor to the romance between the characters. This book will boost up your mind along with your body to have the best time with your friend.

I thought this was kind of odd, I don’t read erotic books especially about vikings? But a friend recommended it to me and I decided to give it a read. It was a quick book, which is what I like. Doesn’t take long to read, its inexpensive and if you like erotica books you will like this one for sure. Magnus and Helena make a steamy couple. I love how they used a thicker girl rather than a skinny one, made the story a little bit more realistic.

Not 274633?The book has TYPOS in it. Swell!! You get to practice your grammar skills as well.

By Cbatten Edgar clearly articulates the impact of human behavior on an organization. While the book speaks to the role of the leader it is applicable to any person wanting to participate in a culture evolution. The hardest truth is that it starts with our own awareness and capacity to understand the impact of our own behavior in the workplace. Edgar takes us through a wonderful exploration of the power and importance of consciousness in the change or transformation setting. My advice is read Part 2 then Part 3 which are more HOW and conclude with the slightly more WHY orientation of Part 1.

EDGAR PAPKE DOES IT AGAIN: Drilling Deep into Bedrock Leadership Issues By Doug Gertner, Ph.D. "Show me a leader who fails to confront conflict, and I'll show you the 'biggest elephant' in the room." With this starting premise, Edgar Papke follows his seminal first book, True Alignment: Linking Company Culture with Customer Needs for Extraordinary Results, by drilling deep into the bedrock issues and solutions to the greatest leadership challenge of this and any time. "The lack of constructive conflict management..." Papke contends "undermines [the] ability to lead effectively." And with his vast executive coaching and organizational knowledge and experience, Papke offers authentic case studies and tested tools to identify, manage, and resolve disagreement in any form, at any level, and for a positive outcome. As with all of his work, we are reminded that "it's all about relationships." Indeed, this foundational concept carries forward Papke's signature approach to the 'human art of business,' with key insights and strategies for knowing oneself as the first step to addressing a conflict situation. How and why great leaders embrace conflict as an opportunity rather than view it as a peril By Robert Morris In a previously published book, True Alignment: Linking Company Culture with Customer Needs for Extraordinary Results, Edgar Papke offers a measurable and observable approach to achieving and then sustaining alignment of customer needs with an organization's leadership, culture, and brand intention. This is indeed a major challenge to business leaders.Papke agrees: "To confront this challenge, leaders need a systemic framework for understanding, assessing, and creating alignment. They and their teams and organizations require an approach that cuts through the complexity and eliminates the noise from multiple priorities, numerous initiatives, and the confusion of choices and options; an approach that provides a clear and simple roadmap to success." I agree with all that except the word "simple." If the process really were simple, there would be no need for this book, or for any of the other 3,623 books on business alignment that Amazon now offers for sale.Contrary to what some people may think, conflict is not necessarily undesirable. Throughout history, great leaders have created situations in which conflict in the form of principled dissent is needed to find the right solution to an especially serious problem, to find the right answer to an especially important question. This is probably what Papke has in mind in The Elephant in the Room when observing, "Regardless of which approach to leadership you may subscribe to, the primary challenge to becoming a great leader is to confront and constructively manage the conflict that is at the heart of how our institutions, organizations, and teams function; conflict that is the result of the innate desire of human beings to compete and fulfill our wants and needs, and that reveals differing views, values, beliefs, and ideas; conflict that also too easily manifests into dysfunctional, unproductive, and destructive behavior" when there is an absence of effective leadership to prevent that behavior.These are among the several dozen passages of greatest interest and value to me in Chapters 1-10, also listed to suggest the scope of Papke’s coverage:o Creating Change (Pages 29-31)o Confronting Conflict (31-34)o Stepping Into Reality (36-37)o Is It Always About Winning? As a lover of baseball, the main character Greg Waltman resonated with me a great deal and his journey was wonderfully envisioned with a great twist. The dialogue was nicely put together and even though it is such a difficult theme there are many uplifting moments in it. Definitely a must read, I am glad I found this one.

About the Author

Mike Clarensau is a writer living in the Dallas area where he also serves as dean of the College of Bible and Church Ministries for a Christian university. He has authored more than a dozen books, including From Belonging to Becoming, Journey to Integrity, The Sanctity of Life, and coauthored Give Them What They Want, and We Build People, a discipleship strategy book used in Pentecostal churches throughout the United States. Mike and his wife, Kerry, live in Waxahachie, Texas, and have two sons and two granddaughters.About the Foreword Author Scott Wilson has been in full-time pastoral ministry for more than 25 years. By Charles Myers This is an awesome book by Mike and I highly recommend to anyone who is ready to see the spark of God's Spirit spread to a fire. We have become a church that is content with less spiritual anointing. This book helps you see our need for more of God's Holy Spirit in our lives, then helps you know what we can do to let it happen.This book is extremely relevant for the body of Christ and should be read by anyone that longs for more of Him. In the Old Testament, Shavuot occurred on the fiftieth day after Passover and celebrated the firstfruits of the harvest. When Jews translated Scripture into Greek, they chose the word Pentecost (“fiftieth”) to translate Shavuot (“weeks”), for obvious reasons.In the New Testament, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit recorded in Acts 2 occurred on the first Pentecost after Jesus’ death (which coincided with Passover), resurrection, and ascension into Heaven. Since that day, the Holy Spirit has continued to fall on Christians in accordance with Jesus’ promise and for the purpose He announced: “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8, emphasis added). A Spirit-empowered life is, at minimum, power for witness to Jesus Christ.The Christian life, then, is a Spirit-empowered life. And yet, so many of us experience a gap between the kind of life we actually live and the Spirit-empowered life the New Testament portrays. In A Spirit-Empowered Life, Mike Clarensau sets out to describe the Spirit-empowered life in detail and to explain how that gap can be closed.Mike is a friend and former colleague—hence I will use the familiar Mike instead of the more formal Clarensau in this review. He’s also the genuine article: a humble Christian who lives what he writes. A Spirit-Empowered Life consists of forty 5-page chapters. Each chapter ends with questions for personal reflection. The book makes for a perfect post-Pentecost devotional. (A companion small-group curriculum is available from MyHealthyChurch[dot]com.Mike divides his material into four sections: The Hunger (chapters 1–8), The Encounter (chapters 9–16), The Demonstration (chapters 17–36), and The Horizon (chapters 37–40). The longest section of the book concerns the demonstration of Spirit-empowered living through relationships, spiritual growth, service to others, missional undertaking, and worship of God. The portrait of Spirit-empowered living that emerges is thus a combination of classical Pentecostalism’s emphasis on “power for witness” with a more contemporary emphasis on purpose-driven ministry. It’s a good, and natural fit.I close with an extended quotation from Mike’s book because it identifies where the problem lies. If we ask, what is the cause of the gap between the kind of life we lead and the kind of life Jesus promised us, the answer cannot be: Jesus. Or the Holy Spirit. The Trinity unites in its desire that we “may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). If there is any gap, then, it causes from our lack of desire. And so, Mike writes:“No matter what the road you traveled toward God looked like, it was your need that fueled the journey. But there’s a greater step beyond that critical precipice. If you’re going to find a life of more—the abundant one Jesus spoke of and the greater race God offered His prophet [Jeremiah 12:5], you have to really want it.”May God use this book to elicit a greater hunger for Him, the life Jesus offers, and the power the Spirit gives!P.S.
