All he wants from his holiday in Thailand is to relax on the beach, drink and have the time of his life. However, the moment his eyes land on the beautiful blonde reading on the beach, he knows he can’t stay away. All his other wants no longer matter. What does matter is getting to know the girl behind the mockingbird. Enter Stevie and Julian’s memory vault. No names. No past. Just right now. Seven days to fall in love. Seven days until their end. By Natasha WWLB gives us an insight into a week in Thailand, where two strangers meet and fall for each other. Julian Moors is celebrating the end of his university degree while Stevie Appleton has come to relax after finishing high school. They’re both looking to relax, but aren’t quite prepared for each other.I loved this book - for me it highlighted a moment often wondered about ever since first meeting these characters in the earlier Thirty-Eight books. I love seeing a different Stevie and a different Julian to the ones we have met later in their lives.I think if anyone is picking up this book who is not yet familiar with these two, there’s a couple of things to keep in mind:We don’t learn a lot of detail about their backgrounds or their futures. We get hints, for sure, but this is very much a snapshot of a week, which just reflects what it was like for these two people as they meet and spent their time together without talking of their relevant past. We don’t get a full sense of exactly why Stevie acts the way she does. Her actions and thoughts at times frustrate, but it makes complete sense - she is young and just on the cusp of adulthood. Julian is the one who commands most attention. I loved seeing how he fell hard and fast, and has a lot less reservations than Stevie as he’s more sure of himself and where he’s at in his life.Readers will get the most out of this novella if they’ve read the previous Thirty-Eight books (Thirty-Eight Days and Thirty-Eight Reasons) as I have. You’ll have met Stevie and seen a little of Julian before, and so you’ll appreciate this snapshot all the more. Of course we are left wanting more - that’s exactly how a prequel novella is meant to leave us - and I can’t wait to read the next.I received an ARC of this book for the purpose of an honest review.

By angelofegypt I was given an ARC of WWLB in exchange for an honest review. What We'll Leave Behind is the first book in the Left Behind series, a spin-off of the Thirty-Eight series by Len Webster. In this book, we get an in-depth view of Stevie Appleton and Julian Moore's perspectives, unlike the scratch of the surface we got to see in the original series. Basically, Stephanie suddenly found herself in Thailand for the summer in replacement for a friend. There, she meets Julian; an extraordinary man with an underrated sense of humor. They kick it off almost immediately, yet none of them actually knows the other. Below I'm going to stat what I believe are the goods and the bads in this novella. The GOODS:-The Writing: If there's one thing in this world Len can do right, it's writing. Her style is literally amazing, showing so much yet so moderate emotions. I love how descriptive and metaphoric she is towards everything. She uses emotions to declare intimacy, instead of just plain graphic descriptions. The way she describes everything is addicting. It makes her books all the more page-turners.The CHARACTERS:-I'm surprised to say that I haven't read a book with likable characters in so long. Usually in contemporary books, the main character is whiny and stubborn and just straight-forward dumb. Stephanie was actually a very logical character who made good use of her mid - at least at most times-. Julian was actually cute, not too smug or too geeky. He was ordinary, relate-able.The SETTINGS:-I loved the place where this story was set. It's unique and different. It feels cozy, your average hangout hot spot, nothing too extravagant. The BADS:The PACING:-Well, to be honest, I felt some things in this book were a tad rushed. I know it portrays how love at first sight is, but it was extremely unrealistic for the main characters to go through all of that in a single week. A lot of people may disagree, but I honestly think it's what put me off while reading. The PURPLE PROSE:-I'm a big fan of the purple prose. Believe me. I own the entire SHATTER ME series, and I love every single bit of it. But I just felt this method was overused in this book in some way, over and over again. The sunset was described numerous times that made me skip to the points of action. A lot of things were over-described when others didn't get their fair share at all. e.g. Stevie's motel was barely even mentioned, except for the fan. :DWell, those are the only things I have against the novella. Otherwise, it's a must-read in my list. I'm definitely going to check out book two when it comes out.

C'est la perfection."This was the first time I read something written by Len Webster, and I am not a romance lover at all, but God did this book give me feels and the urge to eat a whole packet of Snickers.Len has a beautiful way of penning down words that bleed into your soul and make them stay with you forever. Sentences like -"Whenever you're lost Stephanie, just look into the sky and the stars. They're your direction, and they're your hope and inspiration. They were witnesses to what we shared here."How beautiful is that line by our Julian Moors?Len, I absolutely love your writing style and this prequel was a great idea to publish this so that we knew what was headed our way in 'What You Left Behind'The characters, the setting, the scenes - everything was perfect for a romance novella. I absolutely LOVED Julian and Stevie and their chemistry. And the end was perfectly described and so breathtakingly beautiful and sad, my review cannot do justice to it and to this novella in whole.I am geared up for the novel now. Bring on the tears, Webster!
