A technical exposition of evidential Christian apologetics By A Customer Montgomery is one of the foremost exponents of evidential apologetics in evangelical Christian circles. In this collection of essays, Montgomery seeks to explain, defend and commend the use of evidence in Christian apologetics. He contrasts his position particularly with the presuppositionalist camp (Carl Henry, Van Til). Most of the essays are at a technical level. Topics treated include a defence of miracles, how Muslims do apologetics, Dr Samuel Johnson as an apologist, Biblical inerrancy, and Lutheran approaches to apologetics. It should be required reading in tertiary studies on Christian apologetics.

ESSAYS ON APOLOGETIC METHOD FROM THE FAMED LAWYER/APOLOGIST By Steven H Propp John Warwick Montgomery (b. 1931) is one of the major philosophical apologists of the 20th century. He is also a trained lawyer, which influenced his "historical/legal" approach to Christian apologetics. He is perhaps best known as a writer for his books History and Christianity, How Do We Know There is a God?, Evidence for Faith, Where is History Going?, The Shape of the Past, The Quest for Noah's Ark, God's Inerrant Word, as well as for his debates with the infamous atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair (1967); with Joseph Fletcher [reprinted in Situation Ethics: True or False); with "Death of God" theologian Thomas Altizer [reprinted in The Suicide of Christian Theology].He wrote in the Preface to this 1978 book, "Today... there is not a theological seminary in the world ... that gives the same stress to apologetics as it does to dogmatics or ethics... The lack of emphasis on the defense of Christian faith in our time is especially unfortunate... when one reflects that ours is a time of secularism demanding that Christians 'be ready always to give an answer [Gr. apologia] to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you' [1 Pet 3:15]... The present book of essays endeavors... to offer just such answers." (Pg. ix)He adds, "But why speak of 'EVIDENTIAL apologetics'?... influential attempts are being made to create systems of apologetics that supposedly do not depend on factual evidence but instead rely on 'assertively true' presuppositions or 'faith-informed' starting points. Such positions are either unabashedly 'presuppositionalist' (arguing that the Christian has every right to start from his unprovable first principles, for the non-Christian is doing the same thing...) or more subtly metaphysical (stating that the Christian's world-view... cannot be proven by any particular evidential considerations...)... The author rejects all such presuppositionalisms. The flight from 'verification' shared both by theological liberals ... and by metaphysically inclined evangelicals ... is a retreat from the apologetic task." (Pg. x-xi) He adds, "Christian faith is founded on fact. The message of this book is simply that the time is now more than ripe for the church to present that faith evidentially and courageously." (Pg. xiv)He points out, "The twentieth-century world... displays a religious pluralism... Sects and cults proliferate; philosophies of life... vie for our attention... All about us ultimate concerns spring up, each claiming to be more ultimate, more worthy of our total commitment, than the other. In the university world the pluralistic cacaphony is louder than perhaps anywhere else... What is the non-Christian to do, when amid this din he hears the Christian message? Are we Christians so naive as to think that he will automatically... accept Christianity as true and put away world-views contradicting it?... do we really think he will not at the same time hear precisely the same subjective-pragmatic appeal from numerous other quarters?" (Pg. 38-39)His article, "Once Upon an a Priori" [which was included in Jerusalem & Athens: Critical Discussions on the Philosophy and Apologetics of Cornelius Van Til] is included, in which criticizes Van Til's approach using a parable from French television, with contradictory views, where "Neither viewpoint can prevail, since BY DEFINITION all appeal to neutral evidence is eliminated.... correct INTERPRETATION of the facts... rests only with the one who has seen the total picture by revelation... Thus the irresistable force meets the immovable object... Without prior commitment to the TRULY 'meaningful context' of fact, facts are not compelling. But which 'context'---the Christian or the Marcusean?" (Pg. 114-117)He notes that "We are warned that to press a consistent view of biblical inerrancy may divide evangelicalism... The question is, of course, whether entire scriptural reliability is all that important. I believe it is... Biblical inerrancy, though the expression does not appear in Scripture, is nevertheless Christ's view... Make no mistake. God will not let falter those who are consistently faithful to His Word.... for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and only the Word of God remains forever." (Pg. 227-228)For all Christians interested in the METHODOLOGY and PHILOSOPHY of apologetics (rather than just specific apologetic arguments), this book will be of great interest.

Schillinger Cornered by Grace deconstructs our assumptions about spiritual economy; it is an exploration of the gift of salvation. This book challenged many of my own dearly held assumptions of a holiness upbringing. This book will bring a new awareness of freedom to faith veterans, and help new Christians trying to save themselves. That part’s already over and, yes, we needed to be reminded of that.

Besse The title of Joe Ricker's debut collection of short stories gives the reader a strong clue about the darkness contained within the book's cover. The foundation of the stories is firmly built on the noir traditions of Ellroy and Chandler, but updates the images, replacing polished shoes with duct-taped work boots. Similar to the noir tradition, there is a poetic economy of language which is beautiful, even when used to describe the ugliness that haunts the characters. And it is these characters which are the strongest part of each story. Ricker is able to evoke empathy for characters who come from a history of poverty, violence, and abuse so that when they ultimately make that horrible decision, the reader is with them and can enjoy the beauty of their destruction.

If you read only one book this year, read this one By Jazmin Price Walkin After Midnight is a collection of intriguing stories, that lull the reader into walking down a dark road. The reader may have an idea of where they are heading but Joe Ricker's words taunt the reader into following the path he is laying in front of them. Not only does the reader follow voluntarily but does so, at times, chasing the words across the page. Ricker does not waste words and the reader can't skim the stories. Words are valuable and everyone of them is crucial. It isn't often an author can hold my attention or rather take my full attention. I am always multitasking; present but distracted. Joe Ricker's stories demanded me to fully invest, convinced me to read every delicious word strumming me forward coaxing me to continue turning the pages. The stories themselves are daring. They delve into thoughts and corners of the mind that rarely get light. The stories and characters feel real and are likable enabling the reader to identify and empathize with them during their short time together. I believed the characters and their stories. As I turned each page I wanted more; expected more and wasn't disappointed. Ricker has a way with words that tingles your neck and peaks your curiosity. The stories are gritty, seedy and honest. Under the darkness there is a layer of truth and humanity; emotion that is unexpected and relished. It would be too easy to pen a simple crime story. These stories are more than that. Now go Walkin After Midnight...

Left me wanting more By Amy-Lynn Michaud The mention of local landmarks and towns which I grew up around, pulled me into Joe's stories, but what kept me reading was the skill of the writer. From the start, I was intrigued by the dark characters and the stories which defined them. More than once I finished a story and sat staring at the page in awe of the final twist, wondering how many of these stories were pulled from the writers personal experiences, belonged to those he met in passing, or were created within the brilliant mind of this imaginative, dark and skillful writer. Joe left me wanting more, anxiously awaiting the delivery of his next collection.

The characters are nicely developed, and the author did a wonderful job of building a connection between them. The way the story is structured and pace makes for an interesting read, I look forward to finding more from Nellie C. Lind! I find a lot of vampire stories have went totally "Twilight," but this one was very original and very different from the others. And this one has a wonderful story also about a woman that is abused who gets offered a way out of her miserable life, the question is if she dares to take the offer. About the Author Geboren am 22.5.1859 in Edinburgh/Schottland. Sein Vater stammte aus einer aristokratischen irischen Familie. Doyle studierte Medizin an der Universität Edinburgh und erhielt 1885 seinen Doktortitel. Mit dem Schreiben begann er 1879, um sein Studium bezahlen zu können. Seine Praxis in Southsea/Portsmouth brachte ihm nicht genügend Patienten und ließ ihm Zeit zur Fortsetzung seiner schriftstellerischen Tätigkeit. Seine erste Sherlock Homes Geschichte "A Study in Scarlet" wurde 1887 veröffentlicht. 1902 wurde Doyle geadelt, weil er ein patriotisches Pamphlet auf eigene Kosten veröffentlichte. Er war sehr an sportlicher Tätigkeit interessiert und soll angeblich das Skifahren in der Schweiz eingeführt haben. Er war zweimal verheiratet und hatte 5 Kinder. Doyle starb am 7.7.1930 in Crowborough/Sussex.

Not Another Self-Help Book By Robert Kennedy III While the title might have you thinking this is another self-help book littered with cliche's about doing your best and embracing failure, this is actually a deep peek into the author's personal story. There are definitely applications of self-help themes but Donnell dives deeper into his personal and spiritual journey that he has broken down into 31 days of lessons.You will find special depth in the chapter called "Responsibility to Forgive" where he takes about about abuse and the Overcomer's responsibility in that situation.You can read this all in one sitting if you choose but I recommend that you take your time and soak in each of these lessons day by day.

As I read through the chapters I realized that an Overcomer is not something that the reader would become after the 31 days instead it is a process with the potential for immediate impact in the life of the reader. Each chapter challenges the reader mentally on a key point. I literally went from reading about Overcomers to the realization that I am an Overcomer right now because I choose to be. The point is clear: to be an Overcomer, do what Overcomers do. I was encouraged by many points a few from the text are as follows: "Overcomers may not always see the end from the beginning, but overcomers take advantage of opportunities that allow them to walk into their destiny. Overcomers embrace challenges versus running from them. Overcomers pursue their passion in life because it ultimately leads them to their purpose."This is a great tool that anyone can use to maintain focus on the purposes that God has intended for each of us. Golden Patricia takes a new look and brings a fresh approach to conversations between Jesus and the women he encounters, casting a new light on the importance of women in scripture. I'm now even more in love with Jesus for his compassion and understanding of the special role women play. I highly recommend this book.

The Humanity of Jesus Relating to Women By Heidi Jurka As a non-Christian, this book appealed to me because it was about the humanity of the man, Jesus. I was intrigued by the many different women in his life and the artful way Patricia Daly has expressed insights into these thoughtful relationships.The short, concise background descriptions of each story help place you at the scene. There is enough detail so we non-believers can still enjoy reading without needing a bible at our elbow for reference.This satisfying read from new author Patricia Daly is informative without being preachy, and entertaining for those of us with curiosity about the man Jesus, and especially the many women in his life.

Sosinski I read this book during a time when I began reading the Bible and meditating on scriptures as a daily practice. The stories led me to study the scripture references more closely.I felt an emotional connection to many of the women described in the narratives. Reading this book has strengthened my spirituality.I would recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing what life might have been like for women in Jesus' time on earth and his relationships with them during that time.

She creates a wonderful canvas for your imagination. You can almost smell the scenes she describes.I really enjoyed her characterizations. Well developed characters bring her scenery to life. I love all these fantastic couples that Melanie James gives us. All with the same problems everyone faces in their married lives. This is Jamie and Brad's story. Brad a soldier, who has chosen a military career is out on deployment again. Jamie at home, taking care of their children gets a phone call from her step mother letting her know that Brad's camp had been attacked. Jamie, who hasn't heard from Brad for a while is worried. That morning is her day to host the breakfast of the neighborhood ladies of Eveiller Drive. Jamie holds it together as long as she could, but them breaks down. With her friends their to comfort her, she gets better. They even convince her to go for a mani/pedi the next day with Valerie. What Jamie doesn't know is that surprises await in her near future. I loved this story, I had to read it right through to the end. A nice short book, for a fun and sexy evening read. Get all the books on Eveiller Drive, you will not be disappointed!

This story will grab you and not let you go until you have finished the very last page. The characters are amazing and you feel as though you know them all personally and are there with them experiencing what they are going through. This has got to be on your to be read list, there is no doubt about it.

We have a woman who loves this sci-fi show, however, she hates the replacement of a beloved actor who played the captain. Someone younger obviously and different and she hates the guy instantly not knowing him and totally trashes him online and is pretty terrible to him. Then she meets him in person! She wants to hate him but doesn't and likes him. Likes him even more when he asks her out to dinner and gets to know him. Knowing that this particular fan girl hates his guts but her comments really hurt his feelings. She wants to be honest with him and reveals she's the one whos been trashing him. He is pretty shocked and not really upset it was a shock to him. She explains fast though that shes gotten to know him and knows how great he is and she no longer abhors him. Also, he tells her the real reason the captain she likes so much left the show. It was a fun story to read and enjoyed it.

This is serious erotic I hope this is the first in a series because I REALLY enjoyed this book. Written from the escorts point of view, she really liked as much as I did.
