Not Another Self-Help Book By Robert Kennedy III While the title might have you thinking this is another self-help book littered with cliche's about doing your best and embracing failure, this is actually a deep peek into the author's personal story. There are definitely applications of self-help themes but Donnell dives deeper into his personal and spiritual journey that he has broken down into 31 days of lessons.You will find special depth in the chapter called "Responsibility to Forgive" where he takes about about abuse and the Overcomer's responsibility in that situation.You can read this all in one sitting if you choose but I recommend that you take your time and soak in each of these lessons day by day.

As I read through the chapters I realized that an Overcomer is not something that the reader would become after the 31 days instead it is a process with the potential for immediate impact in the life of the reader. Each chapter challenges the reader mentally on a key point. I literally went from reading about Overcomers to the realization that I am an Overcomer right now because I choose to be. The point is clear: to be an Overcomer, do what Overcomers do. I was encouraged by many points a few from the text are as follows: "Overcomers may not always see the end from the beginning, but overcomers take advantage of opportunities that allow them to walk into their destiny. Overcomers embrace challenges versus running from them. Overcomers pursue their passion in life because it ultimately leads them to their purpose."This is a great tool that anyone can use to maintain focus on the purposes that God has intended for each of us. Readers will be able to identify with various aspects of the points described and apply the principles to assist them on this life's journey.

I enjoyed following the many obstacles Donnell has overcome in his lifetime, the stories of his parents and family and his many words of wisdom. Of the many people whose paths have crossed with his and the positive outcomes these have produced in his quest for knowledge and personal success. He is passionate about family and faith. From the young boy on the island of Antigua to the “renaissance man” I once heard him quoted as, he truly has an inspirational story to tell. He serves as a model for anyone who really wants to make a positive change in their life.I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with him over the last year. He is truly an overcomer and an over achiever. He is practical, knowledgeable, dependable and competent. After all his success and that which is destined to come, he is really a humble man and I am glad our paths have crossed in this life.
