Review from the Publisher By A Customer Few books contain as important a message as does this autobiography and revelations of Sr. Mary of St. Peter (1816-1848) about the powerful devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus. The express purpose of this devotion is to offset the blasphemies and outrages of "Revolutionary men" (the Communists) - through whom God is allowing the world to be chastised for its disbelief - as well as of atheists and freethinkers, for blasphemy and profanations of Sundays by Christians. Specifically, this devotion is the divine tool given by God to defeat Communism, and an unfailing method for individuals in appealing to God through prayer. Our Lord gave Sr. Mary a short but powerful prayer called "The Golden Arrow" by which a person can "shoot directly into the Heart of God." The editor of the book states that this devotion brought St. Therese, the "Little Flower", to her great sanctity. Contains the 9 powerful promises attached to this special devotion.

ODonnell The devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus is still not very well known but indeed a devotion for our troubled times. Considering the date of the revelations (1840's) the message is even more imminent in these perilous times. Sr. Mary of St. Peter (1816-1848) was a very holy nun but often plaqued with spiritual dryness, darkness, and temptations. The same mark of those given a heavy cross to carry in reparation for lost souls and carrying a burden for mankind. On page 184 Our Lord states to Sr. Mary, "I give you My Face and My Heart. I give you my Blood, and I open to you My Wounds." The corresponding devotions are the Holy Face, Sacred Heart, Precious Blood, Holy Wounds, and the Divine Mercy devotion.The Holy Face Message continues with, "The Story of Sister Maria Pierina De Micheli Missionary-Messenger of the Holy Face of Jesus". Sr. Maria Pierina (1890-1945) was responsible for having the Holy Face Medal and the Feast of the Holy Face recognized by the Pope on Shrove Tuesday. The medal of the Holy Face of Jesus was requested by Our Blessed Mother (1938) as a "weapon of defense, a shield of courage, a guarantee of love and of mercy in these times of sexuality and hatred towards God and the Church."Just as Sr. Faustina (1905-1938)was given the Divine Mercy Message especially important for our times. Sister Josefa Menendez had proceeded her (1890-1923).

Chesterton By Rocky Raccoon 'Father Brown' detective stories were the bread and butter of British author and journalist, G.K. Chesterton. Allegedly, this beloved detective enabled Chesterton to keep his publication 'The Illustrated London News' up and going. As a famous British author of such intelligent and stimulating books as 'The Everlasting Man,' 'Orthodoxy,' and illuminating biographies of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Thomas Aquinas, Chesterton's famous mystery stories created a beloved legacy about an astute priest who was able to lend his logic and conscience to unlock the most twisted and ingenious criminals and crimes. Like Sherlock Holmes before him, and probably 'Columbo' after him, "Fr. Brown" would catch his criminals when the blind spot of their descent into willful malice would come to the surface in Brown's order of things.Getting into the mind and heart of Father Brown is about the same labour as getting into the heart and mind of G.K. Chesterton--no small feat. With forty-four short, yet stimulating stories, author John Peterson, has delved into the mind-set of the diminutive priest with surprising skill. Originally published in 'The Mid-West Chesterton News' and, later, in 'Gilbert' magazines, these short shorts--as some have called them--do mine the common sense genius of the protagonist admirably well. There are limitations, however, and Peterson, himself, in his preface, concedes, "Chesterton's witty style is impossible to duplicate."Father Brown may have changed a little, too. He is older now, sporting a cane, and taking his place at St. Dominic's Church in 1972 somewhere in the Midwest. Peterson's stories improve incrementally. By Amazon Customer Here is a new collection of stories about that most enterprising crime-solver, Father Brown--not a work "forgotten," as the seller has it. And its author is not G.K. Chesterton but none other than the intrepid John Peterson, senior writer (now retired) for Gilbert Magazine, the journal of all things Chesterton.That said, I don't know where else you could find such a delightful return to the adventures of Father Brown, now in his nineties and more attuned to the criminal mind than ever, who resurfaces in Bardo County somewhere in the American Midwest. G.J. Meyer (award-winning author of "The Tudors") called this collection a "jewel"; it certainly is that, and readers can find more of Peterson's books at chesterton.org.

Schroder Julian Symons called the Father Brown short stories the finest mystery stories ever written- after Sherlock Holmes. Now, John Peterson has brought Father Brown back. Father Brown is now in his nineties. He's working as a Pastoral Associate at a church in the Midwest.What's the bad? These are very short stories- taking only about five minutes to read. The stories are not in Chesterton's style. Father Brown himself is much different from the Father Brown we know. FYI: the second story, in the book, and the last story are exactly the same.What's the good? Peterson has come up with some good puzzles. He has resolved the puzzles well. His solutions make perfect sense and do not rely on a total suspension of credulity. While there are about a half dozen failures, the overall quality of the stories is pretty good.

About the Author Susie Tuttle has been serving Jesus together with her husband, Dan for over 40 years. The Tuttle’s have two grown sons, Jason and Jacob, two precious daughter-in-laws and four grandchildren. Dan became an ordained minister, while in the petroleum business in Santa Maria, California, and the Tuttle’s planted a Calvary Chapel church in the small western village of Nipomo. At that time, Susie had a daily broadcast on Christian radio. The Tuttle’s desired to be in the ministry full time, so Dan left his executive position in the petroleum business of over twenty years and the Tuttle family moved across the country to plant another Calvary Chapel - this time in Savannah, Georgia. The Tuttle’s remained in the ministry there for sixteen years. They returned to California in 2012, and Dan currently serves as the Missions Pastor at Calvary Chapel Santa Maria. Susie loves teaching the Bible to women and has taught several Bible Studies and has lectured at various women’s conferences and retreats in the USA as well as in Russia and Peru.

Once you pick the book up you can't put it down. The only other author to grab my attention like she does is Dean Knootz. Good thing they are not in the same category or she might give him a run for his money.

A Journey through fortitude, friendship & faith By De'Nita Moss Follow the play's characters through their journey and you'll identify with their expressions, in some way. Four women enter on the stage to portray their processes through emotions, changes, waiting & doubting, while exiting the stage in victory. Reading the story of the transitions they encounter will leave you empowered and encouraged to find your own means of expression and release. It's not a long read but it's a refreshing one. I hope you'll enjoy it, as I've done.

By Big Cal Some very good stories... but if you are already a reader of Asimov, Analog, Clarksworld, Lightspeed or F&SF then you are only going to enjoy maybe 10% of these stories... because you probably have already read most of them sometime in the last year in one of the aforementioned magazines.That being said... if you DON'T read any of those (and if not, why?) then you will probably love this collection... most of the stories are smart, innovative and entertaining... (a few follow the sad trend of working too hard to be politically correct at the expense of honest plots and characterizations... but... well... that is the trend nowadays and you can't seem to get away from it...)So... my recommendation is... if you don't read any of the those magazines.... then start! And this collection is a good place to see what you've been missing!

There is the usual overlap with other 'best of' anthologies, but this collection contains many gems not found anywhere else. This year there is a little bit more emphasis on Science Fiction than before. More of these stories are 'complete' rather than feeling like your reading a chapter out of someone incomplete book - there is some of this but much less than last year. All in all a satisfying read. Tastes vary but maybe only one or two of these stories I didn't finish - for me this is notable. Worth the buy even if you pick up one of those 'other' books.

I kept hoping the next story would be better... Again, i gave up. Only 1 story in the entire first half kept my interest. Feels like i'm wading through a dumpster hoping to find something tasty. If this is the best Horton could find i seriously question what he was looking for or where he looked.

I really love how the author gets you to analyze your life, how he gets you to really think about your purpose in life and what you are truly living for and the legacy you want leave behind. I love the visual stories after each chapter to get your really thinking. This book is hard to put down once you start reading. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

I could have done without the "fat" bashing from his mother. At least he stood up for her and got onto his mom. Of course she shouldn't have felt singled out too much considering shes never been nice to his other girlfriends either. I have to say as characters go Alan was really sweet and genuine. With all he had to deal with and the crap storm from an ex he handled it pretty good. It was nice to know that he wouldn't give up Clair no matter what. I have to admit sometimes Clair annoyed me with her negative feelings sometimes but she's really smart and funny. I did like her but her body image issues could be an issue and her people issues. She's always dealt with her robotics and not many people and I think being forced to is a good thing. Alan will be good for her. It ended on a HEA.

Clair's mathematical model analysis of Alan's baseball swing gives him the tie of 'never miss' and shoots him up to the Pros. They are a couple and Alan talks about marriage but Clair seems afraid to commit because she may still fe she's too fat for him. They visit his mother who also seems to think Clair's not thin enough for him. An ex girlfriend accuses him of leaving her pregnant an d tries to break up his life with Clair. Will Clair fight or give up? What do you think? I loved this book and the geeky, quirky heroine! (Oh and also loved the hunky boyfriend!)

Just because Clair got the hot guy at the end of book 1, her struggles are far from over. A ex with an agenda, a disapproving mom, and questions about her future with Alan are just some of the obstacles Clair faces in book 2. As in book 1, Clair is a well developed character whose insecurities about her weight are balanced with intelligence and keen insight into those around her who would try to tear her down. And again, the sex scenes are HOT!!! Excellent story, bring on part 3!

Whether you’re a fledgling company or one that’s been around for a long time, you can find some benefit from the advice in this book. James Archer details exactly why a positive company culture is so important and what it can do for the success of your business and the people who work with it.The framework he puts forward is practical and logical — something any company should be able to implement if they follow the right steps. I think you can see a serious change in your daily work environment if you employ this method.

A must-read for business owners and managers By TFLReader As someone who has worked for many very large companies in the past and owned several of my own, I know what a successful business looks and feels like. As a general rule, it is one that has a strong sense of purpose and culture and author James Archer has written a great book with his "Rooted" that delves into this in great detail. Archer gives the reader an understanding of what exactly this means and then provides the tools to start developing this for your business if it doesn't exist already. A very well written book that I would consider a must read for anyone who is a leader in business today.
