Review "This short story was an epitome of deep revelations and emotions that every youngster feels. Every story has a hidden message in it that a reader is supposed to discover. Some people discover it and some don't but unconsciously we discover a whole lot of secrets behind a story. I truly believe this thing. So the thing that deeply captured me in this book was how April found out who she is deep inside. The mirror certainly helped her though she saw it as an object which affected her life badly. We all go through certain incidents in life that are so traumatic that shake us to our core and we somehow bury it inside us and try to move on, we become a different person that we weren't before. Just to escape our past we stop caring and stop feeling the deep emotions. We stop being ourselves. We are not ugly, never were, its just our outer self that becomes that way and when we actually realize it deeply, we get to know that our souls were always and will always be beautiful. Its just a matter of realizing who we actually are and be ourselves, not become a totally other person that we are not.I believe this story is the best goodread for young adults who constantly try to find who they are and what they are actually going through. With a touch of this magic mirror the author has hidden a message into this story for the readers to find out. The story is about the character, April who is the epitome of today's selfie. That is, she's thoroughly absorbed in herself and prone to more than a modicum of machinations for a teen her age.The book is written in the belles lettres style which gives a lot of literary license to the author in developing the characters and presenting colloquial speech. A major part of the story centers around a beautiful little box given to April by her Aunt Grace. Lots of drama surrounds this little box. This reviewer likes some of the poetry associated with the box. Here is a sample:"When you look in a mirror, what do you see?The person you are or the one who will be?You're going to be what you give your eyes to see."At one point, Aunt Grace explains that the mirror responds to those who need it. This is a wonderful aspect of the book because it draws the reader into a deeply personal experience which few books really accomplish these days.Overall, Jessica's book has a lot of possibilities for a book series or even a movie at some point.

I really enjoyed myself last night reading this book. It had such a deep and brilliant concept, also the story was very well put together. Let me warn you, when you pick up this book you will have a hard time putting it down. I only planned to read a few chapters last night but the story was so intriguing that I could not put the book down and I ended up completing it in one sitting.April is a very relatable character, she is a good person but like a lot of people she has some flaws that she needs to reflect on.I loved the idea of a soul mirror showing a person's true insides. I think a lot of people need to reflect more on who they truly are on the inside and not just focus on the exterior.If something like a soul mirror existed in real life, this world would be a much better place.

This story about the inner soul of a young girl is very nice and makes me very reflective about my own life and development. Also the writing was very good, describing situations with just enough detail to be able to become part of them but not too much to drag the scene too long. Many colorful descriptions make it fun to read and I was actually really sad when the book ended. I would've liked it a little longer, but it gives me the freedom to choose my own extended ending. But now I can't wait for the next book.I'm looking forward to reading more of Jessica Tumminello!

About the Author D. P. Johnson is a full time teacher and international church and conference speaker. He has taught students in every grade from prekindergarten through high school, and has spoken in nine different countries on three continents. Currently, he teaches high school philosophy and worldview formation courses at an international school in Asia. He has been weaving biblical integration lessons for nineteen years. D. P. Johnson completed his undergraduate studies in Bible, science and education at Cedarville University and earned a Masters of Religious Education (MRE) and a Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MA) from Asia Biblical Theological Seminary of Cornerstone University. When not in the classroom, he enjoys cross-country running, art and studying theology, philosophy and ancient cultures. He also enjoys traveling with his wife and two children. Together, they recently completed a backpacking trip across Tibet. In the future, they hope to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru and the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

By Tony Clark Mr Johnson opens his heart and experiences to make a clear case for the importance of being intentional in the integration of the Bible into every aspect of education and life.Though I'm no longer working in a Christian school, Mr Johnson's principles challenge me as a parent. The statement on page 32 says "Teachers integrate the Bible into the subject and lives of the students to enable them to develop a biblical vision of life that will guide them to think and act for God's glory and their own abundant living." - I have written it down and reworded it to say parents and children so that I can remember the main purpose of what I'm doing as a parent too.

I am so fed up with so-called short stories that jumps from laying eyes on each other right into sex. Ugh. This story is refreshingly different on that note. My issues or I should say critique is that some of it repeats itself. Like after they made love they moved to the bed, the very next sentence, the man leads her to the bed. I thought they were already there. My suggestion from one writer to another, triple check all of your sentences. The only other thing and it's my pet peeve, is the crass words used for the sex anatomy and usage of the f-bomb over and over during what should have been a wonderful moment.Otherwise the story was very cute and sweet and Amanda had me rooting for her from the very beginning.

The heroine wanted love and was willing to take a chance on answering an ad in the paper. The hero wanted love, but not gold-diggers, that is why he put the ad in the paper, and that is why he described himself in less than glowing terms when they talked on the phone and decided to meet. The first meeting was spectacular for both of them, but then something unexpected happened. I thought the heroine's response made sense, I liked her attitude. But we ultimately have a happy ever after.

It is definitely different than your past books. I liked Ferne's friend Martha. She was a hoot. I like that Ferne decided to take a chance & help Michael because he really would have died without her help. I think Ferne is a brave soul to go with Michael. It took a lot of guts to throw caution to the wind & go with him. I was glad she decided to go with Michael.I think when her parents get back they will try to find her in the village. It sorta made me mad that they were so controlling. They did not take her feelings into account at all. It was not right that they would go into town & leave her on their homestead by herself feeling lonely. I think in the end they got what they deserved in that she left to live her own life. They did not think of anybody but themselves either which the proof is they could of let her have the money to go to school instead of going on a honeymoon. Not letting her go into town they were trying to keep her dependent upon them.

By Lissa I received this for an honest review.I think this one threw me for a loop because it was so unlike anything else I've read from this author. The main character Ferne has grown up in rural Alaska with her mom and dad, home schooled and isolated for the most part she's grown up lonely and curious. She wants out and to leave and resents that her parents don't support her wishes. Starting to think it's hopeless till a storm brings a handsome surprise to her doorstep.I liked the story and could really feel Ferne's frustrations but as with most short stories I was left wanting more. The ways the author described the scenery I could easily picture Ferne's house in my head down to the littlest detail and to the point I felt myself shivering through the storm. A few parts were a little unbelievable for me just because of the shortened time frame but i'm hoping that maybe this is a prequel to more. I think the adventures that follow this story would definitely be worth a read so maybe if we ask nicely Sky will give Ferne her own book!

With her parents and her dog for companion in a nearly frozen cabin far away from the village her desire was to get out of there and have a life. Since she was a child she knew what she wanted. She didn’t want to be alone. She wanted a husband who made her feel. When her parents went to the honeymoon trip they have not had before, she stayed on the cabin alone and during a snow storm something was scratching and banging at the door. This short story presents bits of Ferne’s life from childhood to adult that helps to understand her change. She was strong but she has no pride in how she lived. She was exhausted and in need of companion. So, when the opportunity came she sized it. It was interesting how the author developed the plot. It was concentrate but clearly about what was guiding Ferne. No sex in here but the implication that there would be. Good short story. I liked it. Received the ARC for an honest review.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A quick yet well-written read By Meagan Paris from a Guy’s Perspective is a short yet wonderful that I really enjoyed reading. Unlike most writers, Silvia Telfair writes this charming story in second person point-of-view, which I believe she did an awesome job placing the readers into the shoes of the narrator and made them experience his thought process and the magic of Paris and romance as if they were his or her own. The tone of the whole story was warm and enchanting that contributed to pulling the readers in that fictional world. I hope the writer comes out with another story to see if the boy and girl meet up once again.

Definitely worth the read By Manuel The story is short but it has a great deal of vivid imagery which allows you to feel that you are actually there, in Paris. The author has chosen the right vocabulary to captivate the readers, and expresses something that everyone who has traveled felt in some point: Amazenent and curiosity. We get this feeling not only when the characters are exploring the setting, but also when they are getting to know each other; It's not a coincidence that people call Paris "the city of love".Looking forward to read more from this author.

It drew me in from the beginning and I got really lost in it. The language is very rich and flowing. Its almost like catching the middle of a movie and becoming really hooked. I had an overwhelming sense of 'having to know' sort of like actually being there, watching the encounter. The way it is written is also very exciting as its more than just what happens, what the guys thinking, the clever use of 'and then you imagine' its like a separate person is there explaining things to us- temporarily giving pause from watching the enticing characters. It was a very fast paced The only disappointment for me was that it was too short

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. LOVED THE CHARACTERS AND STORYLINE !!! By Mattie I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Mercedes Montgomery has written another book. It is a short story that consists of well developed and realistic characters. The storyline is believable and enjoyable. I have become a fan of Mercedes Montgomery since reading her full length novel, SILENCE, which is the first in a triology. Hoping that DECEPTION... the second book of the trilogy is published soon. SHADOWS IN THE STORM is a read that you shouldn't miss. Do you enjoy suspense? Well if so...this one is for you! The characters are colorful and hold secrets they have been harboring for many years. This will make a great beach read or while waiting for your appointment with the doctor. Downside: Characters were interesting enough to make me wish for more. Didn't want it to end. Upside: Left open enough for a sequel or full length novel with these great characters. What do you think, Mercedes Montgomery?

Even though Shadows in the Storm is a short shirt story it is an edge of your seat tale that is very believable and could be non fiction. It is to the point but leaves you wanting more. I have become. Huge fan of Mercedes since her first book Silence was published and I am patiently awaiting the release of Deception the second book of her Trilogy. If you have not read the full length novel Silence I strongly recommend that you do you will not be sorry! Also read Shadows in the storm Nd hopefully it will be born j to a full length novel!!!!

She introduces the characters, and then we get to know them, and they are part of us. I sure hope there is a sequel!
