We can build a Golden India by unleashing the potential of its 1.3 billion people and transforming its higher education system. With over 1/6th of the world's population, building a Golden India is not just critical for India and its people, it is just as important for the world. With 20-26 million children born each year in India, it is also an urgent issue. If education is the key to unleashing people’s potential, then higher education, which sits at a critical junction of the society and nation, is the master key. Higher education system includes universities, colleges, and vocational schools. Well prepared professionals in all walks of lives and a thriving research, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem can unleash India's vast potential, address its mega challenges, and make its environment and economy more vibrant and sustainable — i.e. a Golden India. In the next 35-50 years, India must educate and prepare 700 million to 1.3 billion young men and women for their lives and careers. So, how is India’s higher education system doing and how could it be transformed to better meet the needs of its stakeholders? The author addresses this central question in his book. Have you asked any of these questions? – What could a Golden India look like? – What would it take to go from harsh realities of today and build a brighter future? – How could India unleash the potential of its 1.3 billion people? If you have, then this is the book for you. This book is also for you if you are an educated youth, professional, or someone who deeply cares about India and its future. What can you do? Where does one start? Find out in this book. Start reading. Join the conversation. Be a part of the movement. #IAmForGoldenIndia

By Raj Shekhar Singh A great book and must read for everyone who cares about India and its future. The book is beautifully set with engaging story-line and in-depth analysis. There is an enormous amount of research and analysis that has gone behind the book and you can feel it when you read it. All the data and analysis is beautifully presented through a very simple to understand language and story.

A Groundbreaking Book By Rob Chandra Mr, Kumar presents a thoroughly researched case for how to address one of the world's urgent problems - fundamentally improving the economic well being of India's poor and middle class by improving, even transforming, education. This book is a must read for anyone with an interest in India, education, and poverty.

An eye-opener on the state of education in India By Rishabh Jain This is a very thorough, well-organized book on the current state of education in India and how it can be transformed to enable "the building of a Golden India." India's current state in terms of its education infrastructure and capability is despondent and alarming. For a country of its size, cultural legacy and current standing in the league of nations, India's education infrastructure needs an enormous revamp to enable even basic opportunities for the millions of kids who will need higher education in the coming decades. Something that stands out is the minute nature of analysis and collection of statistics throughout the book which makes the author's case on the enormity of the challenges very compelling. Consider these:"470 million people, accounting for 39 percent of India's population are under the age of 18." That's more than 1.5 times the entire population of the US. However, "only 50% aged 8-11 enrolled in government schools were able to read a simple paragraph with three sentences (India human development survey 04-05)". This sad statistic is one of many which illustrates the quality of education available in India today. Clearly, there is a lot to do.After a careful analysis of the existing challenges to India's education system, the book then explores successful models of education across time - from India's ancient Nalanda University to top US universities today. The author convincingly argues that India perhaps need to borrow ideas from its own past glory and its democratic ally USA and develop a hybrid model for the India of tomorrow - something that blends the free-thinking, multi-disciplinary spirit of ancient Nalanda with the entrepreneurial and technological vibrancy of the current US system. The author's own past administrative experience in top US universities helps him bring forth deep insights into what makes them tick.Differing from the "broken window syndrome" that afflicts armchair critics, the author proposes a comprehensive roadmap for recovery for India's education infrastructure, arguing for a bold vision with an emphasis on excellence and meritocracy. I particularly liked the clear targets and plans proposed in the book for this seemingly impossible endeavor. The book finishes on an optimistic note hoping to have jolted the audience into some degree of urgency to contribute in whatever way they can.India forms one-fifth of humanity today. Its progress is not just the imperative of a nation but a vast swathe of humanity. Transforming India's education sector will change the world. Hopefully, the book will interest not just Indians and Indophiles but everybody who wants to see a better world which has access to universal education. This book is a tome of statistics for those of us with an analytical bent of mind and a trove of views, experiences and anecdotes for the raconteurs among us. It is a well-researched roadmap for action for policy makers and stakeholders in India's education system. It is a glimpse into a large nation's challenge to transform itself. Go buy it today.

Insightful and heartrending By Karen Snider I don't really feel like any of the of the choices offered describe the mood of the story, it was Sad, fearful, anxious....excited, apprehensive. A quick look behind the pain in her eyes. Meskenit has every right to be distrustful, but she has caught the eye of Julius and he wonders what he might be able to do to capture her attention, learn her story. My theory is this turned out to be only the first of many meetings, he finds himself travelling in the area and they develop a friendship very slowly, over a period of many years. She learns to trust him but is still wary and reserved. He loves her with a steadfast devotion that I can comprehend but cannot explain (because I am not a writer, lol) How long did they stay friends? How did their friendship develop, did it continue to grow or stay the same...die out..? Oh, this is what I love about short stories...it can be as simple as a quick glimpse into the thoughts behind a quick look someone gave you...all the way to "it's the first few paragraphs of an epic fantasy novel"

This short story is also an introduction to JD Smith and it packs an astonishing amount of emotion and detail into a short slice of 240 AD. It's an old conundrum, that ageless dilemma of two people who cannot be together, further complicated by the Roman occupation. A magical story enhanced with lyrical, concise writing.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. liked it By M. For such a short story it was easy to connect with the characters, involved in a hard situation and who acted the best they were able to. Difficult decisions were made, neither right nor wrong. The story was told in an enjoyable way, pacing the disclosures. Only think maybe Meskenit would take a bit longer to welcome Julius' advances, under the circumstances.

Double Exposures is a collection of short stories, some previously published, some not, some related, some not. Each strives to shed light on an underlying complexity (psychological, metaphysical, or aesthetic). That is the main characteristic they have in common and the main reason they are collected together. There is a world behind the world we experience, behind the world science considers. This back-stage reality is responsible for much of what we encounter and for all of the meaning we discover. Perhaps Plato was right. Perhaps this world is more real than material reality. The truths there persist while the truths of the material world are fleeting. The elements there remain what they are while the material world is a seething, churning, cauldron of short-lived things doing what they do for a short time.

Excellent Storytelling By Karen I purchased this collection of short stories, having come across Dennis in a Facebook group for writers of Magic Realism. I really enjoyed this collection of thought provoking, well written stories. His characters were easy to connect with, scenes were descriptive and the plots had just the right amount of twists. Although covering diverse subjects, using differing styles, they all fit snugly in this collection. A few of these stories are magic realism in the true sense. Having been disappointed by other authors' mis-categorised works, I was pleased to discover a new writer of my favourite genre.Within these realistic tales, using both intellect and instinct, Dennis blends new and old worlds, touching ever so subtly on what lies beyond, to create an interesting mix of stories. If you are looking for descriptive, thoughtful literary short stories, then Double Exposures will surely please. I look forward to future works from this author.

Hidden Gem By Tracy Reads Too Much Double Exposures is, at first glance, a neat little book of short stories based primarily in Mexico, but like its title the book isn't all that it seems. Most of the short stories lay back on themselves on an obvious layer -- rich on poor, God on Satan, sex on purity -- but it is the less obvious undercurrent of Plato's alluded-to Cave in the preface, the happenings are hinted at but not spelled out. The stories are charming, with both surface beach reading appeal and also worthy of deeper study. The stories are set with paintings done by the author. Look out for the single exposures and triple exposures.I've been following this author for some time and his titles never disappoint.

PDF Ebook Download : Zero to Billions: 37 Software Self-made Billionaires: Number One Industry in the World, by Paul Chan

Software is the world’s Number One Industry in the past 40 years. I discover this BY ACCIDENT in the course of researching and writing this eBook. The claim that Software is Number One Industry is not an exaggeration. It is based on 4 facts. The software self-made billionaires are (1) the richest (2) the fastest (3) the youngest and (4) the most numerous. First, the software self-made billionaires are the richest. Bill Gates has been the world’s richest man for 17 of the last 20 years. And this is after giving away more than $30B to charity. And Bill Gates has plenty of company. In 2015, of the 10 richest self-made billionaires in the world, 5 of them made it in software. They are Larry Ellison of Oracle, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Michael Bloomberg of Bloomberg and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. The wealth gap between software and the other sector is even more shocking than that. The other 5 sectors (Telecom, Fast Fashion, Investment, Conglomerate and Casino) only account for 1 billionaire each. Software easily beats the next best sector by 5 to 1 margin. Second, the software self-made billionaires also made their fortunes the fastest. Bill Gates became the richest man in the world in his early 30s. In the 19the century, John Rockefeller made it through petroleum or what he called black gold. While it took Rockefeller more than 25 years to become the richest man on earth, Bill Gates achieved this in about 13 years, or half the time. It is still a world-record. Software is the speediest industry. It took Facebook and Google about 10 years to reach 1 billion users. Third, the software self-made billionaires are also the youngest. In the sample 37 of the world’s software self-made billionaire, the average age is 50.6. That is more than 15 years younger than the average age of self-made billionaires (average age of billionaires is about 66). The youngest self-made billionaire in the world is Evan Spiegel at 25. Mark Zuckerberg is only 31. Even Jeff Bezos, at 51, is still a very young age for self-made billionaires. Five (5) of the software self-made billionaire are under 40s: they are Evan Spiegel, Garrett Camp, Sean Parker, Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin. Fourth, the software self-made billionaires are the most numerous. I could have easily picked 100 plus software self-made billionaires from the Forbes list. That is about 10% of the world total self-made billionaires ( in 2015, the total number is 1,101). No other sector comes even close. This is my 6th eBook on self-made billionaires. I had been a programmer for 18 years and even once started my own software company. I even worked for three internet start-ups. Writing this book gives me fresh perspective to examine this industry as an objective outsider. I adopt a six W approach. Who are they? What are their educational backgrounds? What kind of software did they create? Did they collaborate? (Collaborate means multiple founders instead of solo founders), which countries are they from? Are there any women? How old are they? How did they build their empire? A couple of surprises came out in the course of writing this book. First, China is already a powerhouse in software, second only to the US, supplying 8 of the 37 software self-made billionaire. Second, software is a collaborative industry, over 60% of the software companies are founded by multiple-founders. A few companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Oracle, SAP and Bloomberg are founded by four or more founders. Now, that is a lot of founders. Third, the software industry is famous for change and innovation. Today, both change and innovation are accelerating. Accelerated change will continue to favor software. No other industries can match Software in (1) low startup cost (2) short product cycle (3) scalability and (4) ability to make other industries more efficient. Looking ahead for the next 40 years, Software will continue to be the Number One.

If you have been brow-beaten with the bad-news "gospel" of more work, more discipline, more obligation being the "abundant life" Jesus promised, this book is for you. I loved it.

Wilkin's book reveals how MacArthur uses obscure Biblical passages out of context, uses Biblical passages without exegesis or any explanation whatsoever, and manipulates the text of the Bible to fit his own Puritan theology. Anyone who has read "The Gospel According to Jesus" needs to read "A Gospel of Doubt" afterward. It will shed light on all the dark places of MacArthur's message and provide assurance of salvation to anyone who simply believes in Jesus for it. There need not be doubt about one's salvation and "A Gospel of Doubt" shows the reader how to abandon the doubt and insecurity and rest easy in the Lord's embrace.I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially to those trapped in Lordship Salvation.

By Walter Millet Finally someone exposes the false gospel of the New Puritanism taught for 35 years by MacArthur. Dr. Wilkin uses sound exegesis (something MacArthur seems to avoid) to show the destruction Lordship Salvation has wrought on the body of Christ for centuries. I believe this book will be food for thought even for those who would still advocate "works salvation" and a disbelief in eternal security and assurance of eternal life, after reading it. Since Dr. Wilkin follows MacArthur's book, The Gospel According to Jesus, chapter by chapter and argument by argument it would be easy to read each side by side and see the truth of the Biblical text. Additional insight may also be gained from the book Absolutely Free by Zane Hodges.

Georgie Tate is a survivor. She’s survived an abusive relationship. She’s survived the car accident that took the life of her controlling fiancé. Now she just needs to survive the memories that haunt her. Escaping to her aunts’ cozy home on a tiny island outside of Seattle, Georgie finds just the change of pace she needs to pick up the pieces of her life. Taking a job at a local seafood restaurant is the first step in reclaiming her sense of self, but she is completely unprepared for the battle that awaits her there.

Jace Lowe has loved and lost, and he’s determined that it will never happen again. Hardened by heartbreak, he stays focused on his work as sous chef at one of the island’s top seafood restaurants. When beautiful Georgie takes her place on the restaurant’s staff, Jace is resolved to keep her at arm’s length, and his downright rudeness her first week goes a long way in achieving that goal. Georgie, on the other hand, doesn’t want anything to do with Jace anyway and prickles against his abrasive behavior. As the combative pair comes together on a joint project for the restaurant, they find their distaste for one another dwindling. The connection is undeniable—and it terrifies them both. Can two people jaded by the past be softened by the promise of once-in-a-lifetime love, or is this just another recipe for disaster?

Kisses in the Rain, by Krista Lynne Jensen

About the Author Nearly every one of Krista Lynne Jensen's elementary school teachers made a note on her report card pointing out that she was a day dreamer. It was not a compliment. But Krista forged ahead, and when she grew up, she put those daydreams down on paper for others to enjoy. When she's not writing, she enjoys reading, hiking, her family, and sunshine. But not laundry. She never daydreams about laundry. Krista is a native of Washington State and for many years lived in the northern Rocky Mountains of Wyoming before returning home. She finds herself bewildered about being a published author. Her previous publications include The Orchard, a 2012 Whitney Award finalist, Falling for You, and Of Grace and Chocolate.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people and the results are either depressing or sad, yet hopeful. This story was definitely in the latter category. Georgie has gone through some really tough things and the hardest thing is, she doesn't remember everything that resulted in a horrible accident. She has a few flashbacks throughout the book and really struggles with trusting and loving again. I never felt like it was a downer; instead, I was inspired by her journey.Jace has had a rough time lately and doesn't want to let anyone get too close again. I was amazed at how patient and real he is, even when he has every reason not to be. I couldn't help but like him and his matter-of-fact ways.I love food and a good chunk of this story revolved around food, since the main characters both work at a restaurant. They're on a quest to come up with new items for the menu and I devoured the sections talking about their ideas and their tests. Okay, so I didn't really eat the pages of my book, but I found myself very engrossed in those sections. I wish recipes were included because my mouth watered more than once. The bottom line is, the recipes were twofold: two great people, a fantastic setting, journeys and trials to overcome, and great romantic moments made this one a winner for me. Add to that the descriptions of literal food and recipes and I fell in love with this one!Content: no language; mild violence (emotional, accidents, a moment of peril); mild religious elements (the characters are LDS, but nothing is preachy); mild romance (kissing). Clean!*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

Not only Georgie and Jace, but even the minor characters were portrayed in such a skillful way that it was so easy to put myself in their shoes. The setting is evocative with the weather, locations, and travel giving the scenes a definite vibe. I especially enjoyed the fast pace and intensity of the interactions in the restaurant kitchen. It provides a contrast to the slower scenes and creates a nice flow throughout the story. The friendship and subsequent chemistry between Georgie and Jace builds slowly but steadily as they move past first impressions and bring light into each others' worlds.I was drawn to Georgie's struggles with overcoming depression, sifting through painful memories, finding her true self again, and trusting new friends and people in her life. Her quirky-clever sense of humor, often self-deprecating, balances the heaviness of her introspection and also creates fun banter with Jace since he never knows what she is going to say :) Oh yeah, and I had to wipe away some tears at one point... and that afterglow feeling after finishing the book was wonderful! The characters in this book are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There are some brief references specific to Mormons, but the overall themes are universal to all Christians and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance.(Thank you to Covenant Communications for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)

Both main characters, Jace and Georgie, were very sympathetic as they both had some tough challenges to face. Jace has just been dumped by his girlfriend who was just using him to get her old boyfriend back. Understandably he feels betrayed and as a result makes a bad first impression on Georgie who starts working at Peter & Andrew's restaurant with him. Georgie is also struggling with major heartbreak having been in a serious car accident in which her fiance died. But it's more than that as she struggles to remember what happened and to find herself after her fiance's extremely controlling behavior. All the food details were fun. Even though I don't enjoy cooking myself I do enjoy reading about it, or maybe it's just the yummy sounding food. In any case, I found it enjoyable to read about the glimpse of what it's like behind the scenes in a restaurant. It was interesting the way Jace and Georgie came together over food. I think what struck me the most about this book was how real it felt, the way the relationship developed with plenty of ups and downs. This is definitely going on my favorites shelf with the other clean contemporary romances that I love. I normally prefer historical romances so that tells me just how good this one is.
