Unbeknownst to each other Darden Pierson and Willow Warren have always loved one another from the first day they met. Growing up in their affluent neighborhood they were playmates and developed a relationship based on trust and mutual respect. Darden had become her protector and biggest supporter. Then one night the unspeakable happened and Willow's life spins out of control. Darden is there to pick up the larger pieces but Willow must find all the tiny pieces alone to try and put herself back together again. Darden was part of Willow's healing process and after the appropriate amount of time he walked away from her. Darden believes in his heart that he is doing it is for her own good. He wasn't ready to give her the kind of monogamous relationship that he felt she deserved. He is very much a man who enjoys the company of a variety of women. They went to separate universities and only had occasional phone contact with each other. Well, Darden had more contact with her than she had ever known. He knows that there is another man on the horizon. Now Darden wants to be a part of her life in a very permanent manner and an ever-present way but this time he will let nothing stand in their way of finally gaining the happiness they both deserve. Reliving a tragedy for both of them might keep them apart forever. But, if they can get beyond the pain of the past the just might be able to pursue the happiness they both desire with each other.

Exactly what did Willow need protection from while she was away in college? He had three people hired to watch her while she was there? Was she in any danger? And don't get me started on this weak prick tease that is our heroine Willow! In the beginning of the book while she's in college she goes on and on about how no one is ever gonna control her or run her life ever again. But every time Darden "suggests" something she becomes compliant and nods her head and just obeys him. Ugh! Sean never had a snowball's chance with her...she wants to try and pursue some type of relationship with him but can't stand the idea of him touching her!? Both Darden and Willow come off as shallow self absorbed characters. The author rushed this book along at lighting speed. Maybe if she slowed down the pace she wouldn't have had so many typographical errors. I found myself re reading sentences because they didn't make sense. If you want to read this book try reading it for free if they should offer it. That way you won't be annoyed with yourself like I am currently for having purchased this mess.

By binky mcgee I will suggest that the writer take writing classes in story telling, building tension, creating characters and grammar. This should not have gone to print. I think I could almost put up with misspellings and missing words if I knew who was talking, narrating or the subject of the sentence. The story didn't engage me in the least.Willow was under Darden's spell and their relationship was juvenile. Sean was a tragic character in his delusional obsession. The dialogue often read like something out of a historical novel. The secret security surrounding Willow was ludicrous. Until Darden shows up Sean seemed to be the nice guy willing to wait until she was ready for a relationship. There is no build of suspense except for the hope the book would end quickly.

It started off rather tragically for Willow. Though a lot happened during the story there were so many questions and situations that weren't handled and just didn't seem right. Like the parents on both sides for one and their handling of Willow after what had happened( no hospital, police, consoling from her parents). Who's mother acts like Willow's did when something so horrible happens, her dad was just as pathetic. Darden's parents were pretty much co-signing the brother's future vile behavior and thinking money can make it all go away.It didn't seem like Willow's family life had been bad but for her parents to be so disconnected it seems that there'd be some backstory as to why they behaved the way they did.It was a sweet story once you get pass the beginning. Darden was definitely all alpha(pissing in corners marking his territory).Readers that enjoy interracial romance, drama & tragedy, strong caveman like alphas going after their girl, and a HEA in the end then you'll enjoy this read.
