"What I feel has no name..." Suanne Laqueur's award-winning debut novel The Man I Love thrilled readers with its memorable characters and depth of emotion. Erik Fiskare's journey of love, recovery and forgiveness captivated hearts but also left questions unanswered. Now Daisy Bianco has a chance to tell her story. It's been three years since a single lapse of judgment cost Daisy the love of her life. Erik was a conduit to her soul but now he's chosen a path of total disconnection, refusing to speak to her or acknowledge her betrayal. Alone and shattered, Daisy attempts to take responsibility for her actions while building her career as a professional dancer in New York City. But Erik's unforgiving estrangement proves too much for her strength. Plagued by flashbacks to the Lancaster shootings, she falls into a dangerous spiral of self-harm, cutting into her own skin as a means to atone. Only the timely appearance of an old friend, John "Opie" Quillis, saves her from self-destruction and gives her a chance to love again. Laqueur skillfully weaves flashbacks to the college years with Daisy's present life. Supported by John's patient affection, she works to separate her evolution as an adult from the unresolved guilt and grief of her youth. As her professional accomplishments lift her out of depression, Daisy learns to hold onto her accountability without letting it become her identity. Years pass and she builds a beautiful life filled with dance and friends. Lovers come and eventually go, leaving her on her own with the old thought: Come back to me. In this parallel narrative, Laqueur peels open the beloved characters from The Man I Love to reveal new and complex layers of vulnerability. The scars from the shooting are deep and pervasive within this circle of friends. Like Daisy, they are trying to evolve without being fully resolved. But when questions from the past go unheeded, you alone must find and give your answers true.

Review "One doesn't read Laqueur's novels, you experience them... These characters are like people I know and I'm not going to forget them any time soon." --Emma Scott, author of RUSH "Laqueur crafts these characters and knows their ins and outs and bones and blood so well. As readers, we are sucked into their lives. We feel what they feel. We ache when they ache. We cry when they cry. And we miss them desperately when the story is over. This is the gift Laqueur has given to us with her writing." --Mary Frame, author of Imperfect Chemistry and Imperfectly Criminal "Laqueur has a way of getting to the essence of a scene or character with just a few words carefully placed. They're gorgeous and sad filled with hope and hopelessness and fully intent on drawing you in. Give Me Your Answer True is the kind of book you think about long after it's over..." --Kayti Nika Raet, author of The Monster Chronicles "Five stars. Give Me Your Answer True is further affirmation that Suanne Laqueur is a truly gifted writer and knows how to create lasting memory through her superb storytelling ability." --Diane Lunsford, Feathered Quill Book Reviews

Her ability to ferret emotions, depict extreme mental images along with her expert writing creates a spellbinding narrative accompanied by gripping characters.GMYT focuses on Daisy Bianco along with Opie, Lucky and Will. We discover Daisy's anguish over the traumatic incident and her broken relationship with Erik. A retelling but yet very different as we revisit events thru Daisy's eyes and heart. The struggles are affecting, the scars heartbreaking as we recall and recap the irrevocable ordeal and forced changes all involved suffered. Their recovery is plausible and touching.Laqueur manages to address heavy hitting delicate topics with ease and respectability. I admire her for deftly bringing taboo topics to a wide audience spreading awareness. She explores the challenges such issues present as well as the surviving of trauma and the pain of dealing with these hard hitting issues on an ongoing basis. Healing and its difficulty brought to the forefront.Amazing narrative, the emotional hold both narrative and characters possess over the reader is unbelievable. You are fully invested in these characters as they are faced with a horrific incident forever changing their lives, you cheer their progress and you celebrate their recovery. Memorable in every way imaginable.

In Suanne Laqueur’s first novel, The Man I love, we read the story from Erik’s point of view and what a story it was – I loved every minute of it. Truth be told, I was somewhat reluctant to read the author’s newest novel, Give Me Your Answer True because this time it’s told from Daisy’s point of view and I was quite afraid it was going to be the same story with just some minor changes. My fear was for nothing though as this story is far from the same. This new perspective gives a truly epic story even more depth as we take this journey with Daisy. Give Me Your Answer True is an absolutely beautiful story that flows as effortlessly as a well-choreographed dance. I was majorly impressed with the author’s debut novel, but with her second novel, I am just simply astounded at the talent she has. If I had to sum up Ms. Laqueur’s talent and ability to tell a story in just one word it would have to be perfection. This is Daisy’s side of the story – her words - and is at first told via flashbacks as she is talking with her therapist, Rita – trying to remember the buried memories of that tragic day in April and working through her issues with not only Erik but other things that have plagued her with despair and hopelessness – the need to hurt, the need for pain. Once the past catches up to the present, Rita really starts to dig into the ‘why’ of everything and helping Daisy deal with her post-traumatic stress disorder and her experience with self-harming. After discovering the root of her emotional problems, it was a pure joy to ‘see’ Daisy blossoming into the happy person she deserved to be.I feel that this way of retelling the story really worked as I had a better and deeper understanding of Daisy and the other supporting characters within the story. I actually felt the love, the despair and the heartache in Daisy’s words as the story unfolded. The many layers of the complex characters are peeled away and the reader gets to see the rawness, the vulnerability, the flaws and the beauty of each individual person and every incident that makes this story an amazing showcase of brilliant, effortless and beautiful writing. I must also mention that even though I knew the ending of this story, this time around I found the experience much more fulfilling and my heart is happy due to having a greater connection with Daisy and getting to know her more through the poetic and beautiful words that make this a truly epic and awe-inspiring story.Give Me Your Answer True is more than just a love story. It is also a story of innocence lost, heartache and despair, discovery of one’s self and being true to yourself. From true love, to the loss of friends due to do a horrific act of hate and the need to feel again through pain, to forgiveness, this story will grab you and forever haunt you and stay within your heart even when the last sentence has been read.

I felt like the wounds of Erik's story were still too fresh and had just barely scabbed over and I was nowhere near ready to re-open them through Daisy's POV. Well, rest assure, the author grants the reader a huge reprieve from anxiety buildup by inserting the main nail-in-the-coffin incident that drove Erik and Daisy apart right away in the book's beginning, thus ripping open the bandaid and getting it over with. Having that part out of the way allowed me to concentrate on Daisy the person, and not Daisy the perpetrator. I didn't know if I wanted to forgive her because I truly couldn't blame Erik for cutting her off the way he did and thought she earned her spot in purgatory. Reading this really gave me a different and more open view afterwards and while I thoroughly enjoyed The Man I Love, Give Me Your Answer True had me glued to the pages even more so. The writing is so compelling. And not only is this book about Daisy, but it also provides enormous insight to the rest of the gang whom Erik had cut himself off from after his departure from Lancaster - Will, Lucky, John, David and James, because I was definitely curious about them, too. Erik's POV alone does not give enough of a full picture of those other characters. Lingering questions about them are answered in this book. Before things fell apart, Daisy was this very calm, controlled and coordinated person with the utmost grace and poise. She's direct, but also diplomatic. She doesn't try to hide anything and she views life with a fresh perspective. I adored her capability of handling sticky social situations and her ability to trust so freely and open generosity. I loved her relationship with Erik and what they shared with one another. So why did she do what she did? I have been mulling over that ever since The Man I Love and my personal conclusion is simply that Daisy, the over analyst and perpetual thinker, chose a singular moment to cease all thinking and let the moment play itself out on its own and lose a bit of control. Yes, she was externally influenced so her judgment might have been partially impaired, she was numb and seeking to feel and to escape temporarily. After the trauma she endured, I can understand that. But still, it doesn't excuse her actions.Watching Daisy fall so far into rock bottom and slowly climb her way back up gave me a newfound understanding for her true strength and resilience. She never blamed anyone but herself and she took complete ownership of her actions. Not many people can take full accountability like that. She sought help and forced herself to look inwardly. And even when Erik froze her out, she didn't hate him in return despite the constant craving for closure. I didn't realize the depth of Erik's punishment until I experienced it through Daisy. However, she punished herself ten fold more. Sure, the theater incident was the catalyst for everyone getting lost and was subsequently followed by them all completely disintegrating within their identities as no one knew the appropriate way to cope afterwards, thus spiraling further downhill. Little by little, Daisy earned my respect again even though that one moment in time cannot ever be erased or rewound, but she made good on her word of fixing the situation with the leftover pieces she was given to pick up after suffering the severe consequences. The timeline for this is parallel to The Man I Love and by the time Erik reappears in the book, I could more fully appreciate how they were achieving their much needed closure and hopefully getting ready for a new adventure together.
