Ceecee has just woken up to hear Stanly say that she is their mate, wow. She gets the impression that her mates do not want her, they want to stay away from her. She rushes out trying to get away. She decides to confront Stanley and finds out that they really just do not want to stand in her way of being a model. Insert hot, steamy, office make out session here until Ceecee realizes where she is at. When she gets home, her sister is they in shifted form torturing her roommate. Can Ceecee's week get any worse, the answer is oh yes. Well I do not want to spoil the book, so I will leave by saying that as with part 1 i did not put this one down. There is another cliffhanger. One of those where your jaw drops and you are screaming at the same time. At leaset part 3 is already out so you don't have to wait to see how this ends.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After Ceecee overhears her mates Dane and Stanley talk about her been their mate and that Dane thinks that they shouldn't mate her. She thinks it's because they don't believe she is good enough but it is because they don't want to stand in her way since wants to become a model. Ceecee also gets a surprise when her mother ships her sister to her so that she can get her life together. When her sister is picked up for shoplifting Ceecee believes that she would make a terrible mate and decides to contact a photographer so that she can get a profolio together. Ceecee thinks that she is all wrong for the men but they don't communicate with her so she doesn't know what they are thinking and the mating heat doesn't help. Stanley shows her that he wants her but Dane just stands back and watches from afar. Must women would wonder if they were good enough especially with Dane acting the way he does. This book also ends in a cliffhanger so beware but part three is already available so you don't have to wait for the conclusion.I received a copy of this book for a honest review.....

It continues the story right from where book 1 left off.Ceecee has just over heard Dane and Stanley talking about her being their mate and Dane doesn't want to claim her. So now she thinks that they see her as being unworthy of being their mate. Unknown to her it's actually because Dane wants her to have her dream of being a model and feels that being mated to them would hold her back. On top of that her mother shoves her 10 year old little sister off on her because she can't deal with her and the sister turns around and gets caught shop lifting.I am so loving the humor and fun of this series. It's a perfect light summer read. I highly recommend it.Received ARC copyL.

By Rohit Bhargava - Author | Speaker | Nice Guy As a self described "trend curator" and an author of a book on how to predict the future myself, I spend a lot of time looking at the processes and methods used by all kinds of trend forecasters and futurists. The work of the team at trendwatching.com is at the top of my list for insanely useful insights about the future. Now for the first time, you can take a fascinating inside look into their process and a candid exploration of the principles they use to produce some of the most consistently valuable trend research published today. The book explores themes of curation, naming trends, megatrends shaping our world today and how trends become actionable for any organization.I have been a fan of the research from trendwatching.com for many years - both for its level of insight and the visually beautiful way in which they are presented each month through their monthly briefings. This book takes that inspiration and builds it into a fun and engaging visual primer on how and why trends really matter ... and what it takes to use them to help you and your organization win the future. An enjoyable read and highly recommended!

McDonald Fans of Osterwalder's Business Model work will love this book. it follows the same style with Stylized graphics, pithy and pointed chapters and a focus on illustration rather than argument. This is a tool-kit book that is best skimmed and then used as a reference rather and read and absorbed. One way to look at this book is its really an "app" in disguise pointing to tools, situations etc.The nature of the material and its graphic orientation works better as an actual book rather than as an ebook. Not to knock the Kindle, but the format and content just works better this way as you will want to share and pass it around on a project.

Slick marketing of old-fashioned prognosticating By Jerry Saperstein Lots of people have made good livings from forecasting business trends for a long time. Anyone with an interest in marketing and advertising coming of age in the 1950s and later knows how Proctor & Gamble and other businesses spent fortunes on divining how consumers would react to proposed and existing products and marketing techniques. Advertising and marketing themselves became bogeymen capable of compelling people go do things they otherwise wouldn’t do, such as buy products they didn’t want or need to impress people they didn’t like as one cliché put it. A fellow named Vance Packard made his fortune frightening people into believing that “Hidden Persuaders” directed their thinking. Predicting the future is a good business to be in as the authors of this very slick book (and underlying web service) prove once again. First, let me explain that I am not being cynical when I say this book introduces little that is actually new. The buyer from England in Shanghai in the 18th Century was engaging in the same kind of second-guessing (prediction) as the MBA today who is trying to spec out the next hot product for 12 year olds. As with any book of this kind, there are silly claims: “[n]ear-total transparency now sees organizations that deliver anything less than the best die an increasingly rapid death.” Have you looked at any government entity lately? How about public schools? In consumer markets, such as fashion, many businesses must be up-to-the-second in catching trends. But most of the businesses on the pointy end of the stick – that is, retailers interacting with the public – do little more than make choices of goods brought to them by their suppliers. It is the suppliers for whom trend watching is most important and for whom the information the authors impart will be most valuable. There are a lot of buzzwords and meaningless anecdotes in this book and a lot of pages are nothing but decoration, such as a full-page illustration of a man standing in front of a display of some kind. They had a desired page count in mind and they reached it. An old saw maintains that if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. And it is true here. Tiny anecdote are hailed as evidence of a “trend”. Overall, this is a fun and useful book, not unlike similarly themed books in the past. It’s fun trying to predict the future and even more fun to pretend that you’re learning how to do it yourself. Just don’t take yourself – or this book – too seriously.Jerry

Anthony Gucciardo has earned an excellent reputation as a top-notch real estate agent and counts some of the Capital Region's most influential people as clients. Building that reputation through hard work, client advocacy, and innovative thinking, Anthony set his expectations high. His friendly demeanor and unwavering dedication to his clients are two of the many keys to his success.

In this book, Anthony describes his real estate career journey. He offers tips and strategies for buyers, sellers and those who are interested in a career in real estate.

Anthony's tireless work ethic has paid off and he was quickly catapulted to broker owner of Gucciardo Real Estate Group in less than eight years. The 32-year-old businessman has sold nearly $500 million in real estate and was voted best realtor by the Times Union in 2012. Anthony and his team were responsible for $66 Million in sales in 2014.

“Anthony Gucciardo is a great real estate agent.  Before we found him, we worked with three other agents: one who was employed by a large national company, one who was with a local chain and one who is the owner of one of the most popular agencies in the Albany region.  They all made big promises but none of them could sell the house, which was on the market for a year and a half.  For competence, professionalism and honesty, Anthony has all of them beat; I only wish we had found him sooner.  Of all of the agents that we employed, only Anthony made me feel that the sale was in capable hands.  He earned every penny of his commission and I recommend him to anyone who is trying to sell a house in Albany!”

Despite the title, this edition -- both the hard copy and the Kindle edition -- lack the work "An Historical and Moral View of the French Revolution." I haven't done all my homework, but this is one work that I was particularly looking for. I do like the material that is included.

63 Innovation Nuggets (for aspiring innovators) are derived from the real life, practical experiences of George E. L. Barbee's corporate world experience 45 years, across 40 countries. He has had successful entrepreneurial experiences (founded 3 companies) and has lead innovation with Fortune 100 companies like Gillette, General Electric, PepsiCo, IBM, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Barbee broadens the concept of innovation from the historically narrow view around new products emanating just from R&D. Instead, today's innovation emanates from a diverse array of individuals across a wide range of functional areas including finance, technology, manufacturing, marketing, engineering, and sales. His innovative global leadership is wide ranging across consumer products, entrepreneurial financial services, and global professional services. Barbee's experience convinces him that most of us have an innovative spark that can be ignited. Being innovative is personally rewarding and can add great value to any organization. Innovation is all around us, and using these nuggets can help improve observation skills, transfer skills, and many others. The analogy to panning for gold nuggets is intriguing. Pioneering prospectors would sort through and collect individual pieces. At first each individual nugget may appear to have minimal value, but the total collection takes on the greatest wealth.

63 Innovation Nuggets for aspiring innovators, by George E. L. Barbee

Review This book has many innovation nuggets that resonate with me over and over. Innovation must be at the core of any institution that wants to grow. This book should be required reading for any organization where that is the objective! Innovation can indeed be taught and that journey will be enhanced by not only absorbing these insights and practical experiences but also enjoying them in the fashion they are written. --Tom Knowlton, former President of Kellogg North America and Executive Vice President of the Kellogg Company; former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Dean Emeritus, Ryerson University, Toronto.Barbee meaningfully broadens the understanding of innovation so it is within our grasp. There are very practical, relevant and real nuggets of advice in this book. What the reader will realize is that this is how Barbee practiced his profession in business. I know because I worked with him at PriceWaterhouseCoopers(PwC). I am still learning from his practice of always putting his clients at the center of every project. In my opinion, these nuggets are as useful for Fortune 500 companies as well as smaller start up companies. --Thomas O Neill, former Chairman of PriceWaterhouseCoopers(PwC) Consulting and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of all PwC Global Services; senior Director on Boards of several Fortune 500 public and smaller companies; industry expertise financial services

Innovation is all around us and using these nuggets can help improve observation skills, transfer skills, and many other skills. The analogy of panning for gold nuggets is intriguing. Pioneering prospectors collect and sort through individual pieces. At first, an individual nugget may appear to have minimal value, but it is the total collection that results in the greatest wealth.

About the Author George Barbee is one of the original Batten Fellow faculty members (along with Jim Collins, Malcom Gladwell and Jim Gilmore) at top ranked University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and has been teaching innovation for the past 15 years to over 500 MBA students and senior executives. His 45 year business career has taken him to over 40 different countries including China, Germany, and Mexico. He has founded three successful entrepreneurial companies and has led innovation with several Fortune 100 companies including Gillette, General Electric, PepsiCo, IBM and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Barbee received Darden s highest alumni honor, the Charles C. Abbott Award in 2000, and has been recognized in Who s Who in the World as a global business leader. He has written and originated numerous articles, and has appeared multiple times on NBC s Today Show, ABC s Good Morning America, and CNN. He has also been quoted widely in The Wall Street Journal and New York Times throughout his career. Barbee and his wife, Molly, travel extensively and live on Captiva Island, Florida during the winter months, and in beautiful Leland, Michigan, during the summer. Their four sons have all lived in foreign countries and are now scattered across the U.S. from Atlanta, to D.C., to Montana.

By Chrissine Rios What an invigorating read, surprising too, as I'm an educator in higher education--I had expected the innovation nuggets to only apply to business executives or MBA students, but no. The experience and wisdom contained in each nugget could help anyone within any organization be better and do more.I most enjoyed reading about the differences between customers and clients and how to put the client in the middle--and what that looks like. In education, we also take a student-centeredness approach, but Barbee's explanations and examples gave me a new perspective on what that means and how it not only benefits the student but also helps an organization grow--and me grow within it!From risk taking to relationship building, these nuggets have inspired me to be more innovative. I imagine Barbee's also an excellent grad school professor. I appreciated his candid anecdotes and pithy writing style. I felt like I knew him and like he was talking to me, even though he was talking about working with the heads of Fortune 100 companies! I recommend this book highly for all who want to make a bigger impact at work or at least better understand how what they do matters.

By RubyCharm Received "63 Innovation Nuggets" in the mail a few days ago and have found myself connecting with so many of the concepts Barbee presents. The information is inspiring and compels me to think about innovation in different, more meaningful ways. The book allows me to (compels me, really) to slow down and think about the ways I can be more innovative in different areas of my own small business. Even if one if familiar with the concepts in this book, there are compelling sparks and connections that lead to those wonderful "ahh-ha!" moments. I plan to share this book with others, though it has a coveted spot on my bookshelf at my desk. I've already scribbled ideas on a few pages and will go back again.

Johnson This book is great - easy to read cover-to-cover, but maybe just as good (or better) to read nugget-by-nugget, as each of 63 tidbits is thought-provoking in it's own way and invites the reader to reflect on their own experiences and challenges, if they allow the time. This book challenges the generally perceived definition of "innovation" - extending it beyond just the making of new products and into the realm of changing the way we view problems/issues/challenges and how we THINK, not just do. A great book for serial entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs and especially for those who don't think that they have an innovative bone in their body!

She was imperfect, and loving, and confused, and wickedly smart, and astonishingly dense, and absolutely could not see the beauty of herself (both inside and outside). As a young girl who was also struggling with these things, I found solace and comfort in immersing myself into books where in "the real world" the same types of issues occurred, but that there were "greater" things going on, that she was so uniquely qualified to work on.While it is true that the book can be read allegorically, it is a treasure all unto itself. I have many geeky, male friends who enjoyed this book as a child, but it did not resonate with them like it did with the woman I have spoken to. I think this is a book wonderful for all genders and ages, but especially lovely for young girls who are a little smarter than the rest of their class, who feel a little less attractive, and who are just finding it difficult to traverse their world. Many years later, I still find myself reading or listening to this book at least once every year. When things in life start to get a little crazy, and all of those same feelings come back (only now it is being a little too smart at work, and being a little less socially skilled at networking, etc), I visit my friend Meg, and between the two of us things always seem clearer by the end of the book. :)It is worth noting that there are 3 other books in this "series". A Wrinkle in Time is the first one, then "A Wind in the Door" (A Wind in the Door), "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" (A Swiftly Tilting Planet), and lastly "Many Waters" (Many Waters). The first three are closely tied, but the last one, Many Waters, I actually only realized existed a few years ago. Instead of Having Meg Murray as one of the main characters the book is about an adventure that her younger, twin brothers have. Still good, but a little different than the first 3.No matter your age, if you have never read these books, and have a little bit of the "intelligent misfit" about you (or ever did), I strongly recommend you pick these books up!

Sci-Fi, Adventure, Magic and much more By Joanna Daneman This is a children's book, but it isn't just an adventure story. It has science-fiction; The Drs. Murray, parents of Meg, Charles Wallace and the twins) are scientists who are researching Time and Space. Dr. Murray takes a time trip and so do the kids. There is also magic; a trio of "witches" shows up--Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, and they take Meg, her brother Charles-Wallace, and their new friend Calvin on an epic adventure. It's also the story of a family with a deep trouble who nonetheless stay together, the story of a young girl who is just coming into adolescence with all the awkwardness and confusing feelings, and the story of a special little boy who is thought to be retarded by townspeople. The symbology L'Engel uses is powerful and original; a giant brain who seduces those around it into surrendering their free will as an ultimate dictator; a shadow-like smog around planets that represents the presence of Evil, and a special young boy who is more than a genius; who is "something new" who nonetheless can be tempted to his own destruction by vanity.Wrinkle in Time has a lot of fertile subjects for discussions between parents and children about good, evil, how we treat each other, and the choices we make. Ms. L'Engel often uses moral themes in her books and this one contains excellent subjects for discussions about kindness, good, evil, God, and being different, and about the destructiveness of gossip.Wrinke in Time is like the Potter books in that it is about boys and girls in a magical or fantasy setting. It is unlike the Potter books because it does not focus on wizardry as a craft. Instead it presents the universe as full of wonder, and united by a titanic struggle of Good against Evil. Like the Potter books, there are sequels to Wrinkle in Time, and the story of the Murray kids continues. This was hands-down my favorite book as a child. I still have my copy almost 40 years later.

It combines fantasy and amazing writing into one book. I loved how Meg went to save her brother and father. This book is really truly amazing. When I review a book on amazon that i love, i like to look at the one star review and read why people did not like that certain book. I did the same with this book and learned that a lot of kids under the age of 13 were reading this book, and not enjoying it. They either said that they didn't understand it, and therefore it was boring, or that people can really tesser to another planet. If you do not understand a book, then you should put it down and read it a few years later. Those who stated that no one can really tesser to another planet or place are right, you can't, but this story is fiction, meaning it is not real.thank you for your timeand i sincerely hope thatyou read this book,Loran

Most of what he wrote, though very clever, will probably come across as very dated today. One exception is A House-Boat on the Styx. This book is written in the succession of Homer, Vergil, and Dante as a major work on "The Lower Regions". It is reminiscent of Lucian of Samosta and several other ancient writers including Aristophanes. Bangs' story takes place in the afterlife when Napoleon, Washington, Baron Munchausen, Dr. Johnson, Goldsmith, Mark Twain, Kipling and others form a men's club which meets in a plush, luxurious houseboat anchored on the edge of the river Styx. Anyone who likes history and brilliant, satyrical wit would enjoy this book. It is a timeless classic.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Bangsian Fantasy By Kat Hooper John Kendrick Bangs (1862-1922) was an American humorist who edited some popular American magazines such as Harper's Weekly and Puck. His satirical novella A House-Boat on the Styx is responsible for the term Bangsian Fantasy, which refers to stories about famous people in the afterlife (e.g., Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld series). In A House-Boat on the Styx, Charon the ferryman is dismayed to discover that he's got some competition in the transportation business -- a posh new riverboat has appeared on the Styx and there's no way his craft can compete. His fears of bankruptcy are relieved, though, when he's asked to be the janitor of the new boat which belongs to an exclusive men's club run by Sir Walter Raleigh. Raleigh and his colleagues spend their time playing cards and pool, smoking tobacco, and hosting fights (e.g., Goliath vs. Samson) and debates (Noah vs. P.T. Barnum: Which animals should have been saved from the flood?). They also have occasional business meetings in which they discuss agenda items such as whether or not there should be a Ladies' Day on the boat (yes, but Lucretia Borgia and Delilah are not invited) and whether poets should have their own Poets' Corner (yes, because then they won't be lounging across all the chairs, scribbling drafts on the pool tables, and boring everyone else with their recitations). There's almost no action in A House-Boat on the Styx and no need for characterization since all of the characters are already known to us. The story is almost all dialogue as, for example, Shakespeare defends the authorship of his plays, Solomon's Proverbs are called a hack-job, Confucius complains about the poets, the logistics of all of Henry VIII's wives attending Ladies' Day is discussed, Baron Münchausen is accused of making up stories, Sir Walter Raleigh is discovered to be setting up his witticisms so his biographer can record them, Jonah insists that his whale is copyrighted, and Eve laments that she never gets invited to Queen Elizabeth's parties because she has no pedigree.Much of this dialogue is very funny, but it occasionally comes off as a stand-up comedy routine when the jokes are transparently set up:Sir Walter Raleigh: ...Queen Elizabeth could have married a hundred times over if she had wished. I know I lost my head there completely.John Dryden: That shows, Sir Walter, how wrong you are. You lost your head to King James. Hi! Shakespeare, here's a man doesn't know who chopped his head off.Of course, it will be helpful to be familiar with these pre-20th-century characters and their "issues," but most adults will understand most of the allusions and the others can be easily investigated on the internet. I enjoyed the banter, but it was non-stop, so I was ready for it to end when it did. However, at the very end of A House-Boat on the Styx, some action finally did occur when Captain Kidd showed up. So now I'm eager to read the next installment, The Pursuit of the Houseboat.A House-Boat on the Styx and The Pursuit of the Houseboat are available on Kindle in the Halcyon Classics edition, which contains 48 works by John Kendrick Bangs for (at this writing) only $1.99. Both books are rather short and easily read in an afternoon.
