About the Author Mandy Fender lives in the great state of Texas with her family. She has two non-fiction books, Pretty Little Truths and Beautifully Broken. By Veronica Lynn DEFIER is a faith-filled adventure from start to finish.The humanity of the heroine, Lennox Winters, makes her relatable and endearing.In Lennox, I see myself, I see my sisters, and I see my friends- which makes rooting for her an absolute joy!And Sky, the best friend, is amazing! If you love Four from DIVERGENT, then Sky is your type of guy!I was impressed that every character, each of their situations, and every bit of their dialogue is well-written and innovative.While the themes in DEFIER - faith, hope, love, friendship, family, and courage- are universally appealing, there is NOTHING cliche about this book.I was amazed by the author's beautifully descriptive imagery.I felt 100% transported into Lennox's world- as if I were literally walking right beside Lennox.DEFIER is a MUST OWN for all dystopian enthusiasts. Immediately add this book to your library- especially if you're a fan of THE HUNGER GAMES and DIVERGENT!
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Mandy Fender set to be a household name in Christian novels By Randy Mitchell A great book full of suspense, action and faith. Mandy Fender does an outstanding job in writing a novel that targets the YA audience, yet does it in a faith-based way that can not only entertain the reader, but do so in a positive way. The last novel I had read was by Frank E. Peretti, The Visitation, in early 2000s. I liked his writing because it was suspenseful, yet spoke to faith.Mandy's writing is just as capturing. Her descriptive phrasing paints a picture as you're swept into the story, one that I was able to visualize as I read. If you're a fan of suspense and action, you will not be disappointed in this novel. I anticipate Mandy becoming a fixture in this genre for years to come. I wouldn't be shocked to see this book transcribed into a screenplay in the near future!

Defier is an incredible book filled with imagery, suspense, praise, faith, trust, courage, and decisions. I truly enjoyed the foreshadowing through scripture references throughout the enter book. I could not wait to get to the next chapter and the next and the next. I thank GOD for the gifts that HE has blessed Pastor Mandy Fender with. Through Defier, GOD enabled Pastor Mandy to demonstrate ways that our faith, as Christians, is tested on a daily basis. Anyone who has ever experienced a loss of someone that they held close to their hearts will be able to identify with Lennox, or Oliver, or Sky, or Kira. It is also true for any military family member who has endured limited contact or information regarding their deployed loved one due to mission sensitivity reasons.The scriptures spoke volumes and came alive in a new way in Defier. To use the scriptures in a foreshadowing manner was truly clever and effective. My mind focused on the elements represented by the scriptures as I attempted to think about what clues about upcoming chapters were being revealed via the scriptures. I love Defier and would recommend this book to anyone who has ever had a moment of doubt regarding GOD!! The powerful message of knowing GOD and HIS WORD for yourself, hiding HIS WORD in your heart, and making the decision to stand steadfast prior to the storm as GOD strengthens you during the storm reigned supreme for me. By reading Defier, I have a deeper level of gratefulness and thankfulness that I am completely committed to GOD!!Be Blessed.
