Growing up in a single parent home with a father that inspired perseverance and fairness, Marques Ogden learned how to define his values and set goals. Ogden attended Howard University from 1998-2002, where he played Division I football. He followed his dream and his brother Jonathan's footsteps, eventually getting drafted into the NFL in 2003. Overall, he played for 5 years as an offensive lineman with the Titans, Bills, Ravens and Jaguars. Even during the off season, Ogden helped train football players in Europe, both physically and mentally. At the age of 27, he founded a construction company called Kayden Premier Enterprises, a business that grew rapidly in its first few years, but Ogden and the business eventually went bankrupt, after Ogden loss almost 2 million dollars on one project in a time period just under 90 days. At his darkest point, the NFL came in and helped Ogden restructure his life. With hard work and determination, he became a motivational speaker and marketing leader, helping to build others up to succeed. Through it all, Ogden dealt with his own personal demons of drinking and gambling to make it egardless of obstacles that were in his path!

Like all truly great stories about people By Doug Veeder Like all truly great stories about people, Sleepless Nights honestly takes you through the trials and tribulations that Marques Ogden had to face as he learned about what it means to become a man who is comfortable just being himself. Sleepless Nights honestly delves into those moments in Marques' life when he came to a crossroads and how he had to deal with them. And through it all, his underlying motto of you "have to earn this" resonates for all readers, the football fan and the non-football fan alike.The lessons you learn from Marques' story far transcend what he did as a player on the football field. His story is about perseverance and compassion. His story is about understanding that we all make mistakes in life, but what are you going to do about it when those mistakes happen? Are you going to learn from them? Or are you going to let them consume you? Because to make it in anything, business or sports, it is going to take hard work, determination and belief in yourself.Sleepless Nights is a great read for everyone. Filled with nuggets of wisdom that allow us to look into the life of a man who has ridden the roller coaster of life and has become a better person from all that he has experienced and learned. He shares those poignant moments, shares his faith, shares his investment in the youth he mentors in the community and most importantly, shares the love he has for his family with us in an authentic story that has so many lessons we can all learn from and use in our daily lives.

A nice story of determination and perseverance in the face of adversity. If you are looking for a book to read in one hour, then this is the book for you.And that's my main issue. While I like quick reads, this book is almost too short, particularly for $15. While Amazon states this book is 160 pages long, there are many pictures plus advertisements in the back of the book. There's basically only about 50 pages of actual content. And these pages are typed in large font. The publisher could have saved a few trees by using regular font, removing the ads and condensing to 25 pages.I would not recommend this book unless you can get it used for maybe $2. Otherwise, save your money and spend it on a real motivational book longer than 50 pages.
