Few of them have the advantage of every single story being great. This one does! You don't have to worry about spending money only to find that half of the stories are worth reading and the others throwaways. The editors did an excellent job of compiling a well-rounded anthology full of talented authors. The artwork is also a big selling point. Each story features a beautiful illustration that's an art piece in and of itself. And did I mention that the proceeds go to a great cause?!

The collection has everything from traditional fables to those with a Punk flavor!Clever tales of loyal (to the death) servants, misunderstood.long-suffering Sea Witches— and Cyborgs! Woot! All the stories were well written and flowed smoothly, plus there were plenty of twists, turns and surprises!I recommend for those who love Paranormal,Fantasy fiction as well as Myths, Legends and Fairy-talesAll proceeds benefit RAINN— Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network

If you are on the fence about purchasing it- then this alone should help persuade you!The Cliche's for a Cause annual anthology is put together by the talented group of people over at Herding Cats Press, and is always chocked full of amazing stories and gorgeous illustrations! The most recent edition of the anthology is titled: ONCE UPON A TIME . Like the the title suggest- this is a book of fairy tales. Some well known- and not so well known- tales have been re-imagined in creative new ways: an intergallactic Beauty & The Beast, A pot-peddling Red Riding Hood, and everyone's favorite Sea-Witch tells all, just to give you an idea. There are many many MANY more.Even if you aren't that into fairy tales (Is that even a thing? Is there anyone who doesn't like fairy tales?) this book is worth it for the illustrations. They are beautiful! You may discover your next favorite artist in the pages of this anthology. Seriously- the artwork featured is frameable.Reviewing anthologies always presents the problem of- I can't really give you a summary of the plot or characters. All I can really tell you is that I really enjoyed it. The book is great fun for a good cause, so really--whats not to love?The Cover:I love the cover! It captures the magic and mystery that is the very essence of all fairy tales. Well done! The stars, the girl at the sea shore with her arms thrown into the air, the moonlight--all perfection! In fact- it makes me want to purchase the paperback just to have a copy on my book shelf.The Stories:There are so so so many great ones, but you are bound to have your favorite. The ones that I liked most were the modern retellings, as well as the ones that gave the villains side of the story. I especially LOVED "Confessions Of A Sea Witch" by my good friend C.L. McCollum. She delivered a new twist on an old tale with humor and snark--my favorite combination. :-)The Illustrations:I'd buy the paperback for the illustrations alone. Gorgeous, I tell you!
