Her soldier leaves for what is expected to be a short war. Keith and Donna Foster say their good-byes and promise each other love always and forever. The war rages on, and he doesn't come home by Christmas as expected. She has no word of him and the years slowly crawl. Meanwhile, the overseer her husband thought he could trust in his absence causes problems, and Donna fires him. She is faced with running Twin Oaks without one and wonders how she will keep the plantation going. A Union troop shows up for food, rest, and horses. So does her old overseer. Problems arise. The war still rages and there's no word of what has become of her husband. Donna clings to hope, faith, and prayer and refuses to give up on the man she loves with all of her heart. Love Always & Forever, Amen By Shirley Blanchard I love History and Barbara Robinson has done well in her research, as you read this book you will find your self almost living the story, a young man goes off the fight a war leaving his young wife to take care of the plantation, that means setting a bully over seer stright, feeding and taking care of some men from the Norths needs, a scarry time to live in but by the grace of GOD he pulls them through it, a short story but pack full of History, love, bad times, good times, and faith.I give it a 5 star and recommend it .
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Transported in Time By VStrawmier I'm always amazed at how BJ Robinson uses just a few words to take you to another place and time so completely. One minute, you're in modern times, and the next you're in hoop skirts on a shaded plantation road. This short story packs a punch and I absolutely loved it. War didn't tear everything apart despite its length and difficulty. What survived was love, strength and understanding and this story is a perfect example of that. Don't miss it!

You love, you feel, you cry, and you hurt with the characters. Loved this book.. Beautifully written. I will definitely be awaiting further books from this author.
