Now available on Kindle is this special edition of the Catholic classic, “Liberalism is a Sin.” What is Liberalism? Do we recognize it when daily faced with it? Do we know that we must resist it and combat it? Do we know how? Modernism, in which liberalism is deeply rooted, is rampant within our own time. The author, Félix Sardà y Salvany (1844–1916) defends the Truth and assists the reader of good will by: ---Exposing the heresy of liberalism ---Explaining what is Liberalism ---Showing why Liberalism is a sin (and most often a mortal one) ---Revealing the two kinds of Liberalism ---Differentiating between the three kinds of liberals---and points out which one is the most dangerous ---Looking closer at the solemn condemnation of Liberalism by the perennial Church ---Pointing out the artificial interpretations of the Syllabus of Errors by liberals ---Exposing the intellectual errors and tactics of persons infected with Liberalism ---Telling how to distinguish liberal works hiding behind a Catholic facade ---Explaining the THREE major ways that Catholics succumb to Liberalism ---Listing the FOUR permanent causes of Liberalism ---Providing THREE actions on how to avoid Liberalism ---Addressing the incessant cries for “charity” (and today, “tolerance”) by liberals---and how to deal with all of it. In sum, "Liberalism is a Sin" alerts and reminds Catholics that "the first condition of charity is not to violate the truth, and charity cannot be the snare to surprise faith into the support of error." The book opens with an interesting turn of events, which resulted in a “turning of the tables” when a liberal Spanish bishop attempted to have Fr. Salvany’s book placed on the Index of Forbidden Books. Under the direction of this bishop, another work was written by the Catholic canon Celestino de Pazos to refute Fr. Salvany (and also make some very uncharitable remarks about his person). The liberal bishop, Rev. Jacobo Catala et Alboso, then sent both works to the Sacred Congregation of the Index. Most likely to the great surprise of the liberal bishop, the Sacred Congregation of the Index issued its ruling in favor of Fr. Salvany’s book, “Liberalism is a Sin” (and ordering the withdrawal of the other). The letter proclaiming the ruling is also included. BONUS FEATURES FOUND ONLY IN THE EDITION by KIC: —Full color illustrations. —Table of Contents with NCX navigation. NEW APPENDICES: ---The complete Syllabus of Errors by Blessed Pope Pius IX. ----The entry on Liberalism from the 1910 Catholic Encyclopedia (with active links throughout).

About the Author Dr. Don Felix Sarda y Salvany was a priest and author, born in 1844 near Barcelona. Over the course of forty years, he discussed all the current issues of his time with the understanding of the Catholic faith, as director of the Revista periodical. His potent work entitled Liberalism Is a Sin succeeds in exposing, in very clear terms, the intrinsic evil of liberalism and Catholic liberalism, and was first published in 1899 by the B. Herder Book Company. The work was also retypeset by TAN in 1993. Father Salvany died in 1916.

Eye-Opener By Sandra Lee Liberalism Is a Sin is a powerful book written in Spain in 1886 and its content is more relevant today than when it first appeared. Although written from a Catholic perspective, this book is an eye-opener for catholics as well as for open-minded non-catholics. The moral depravity existing in our country today is a consequence of liberalism (pervasive in television, movies, literature, public and private morals) deeply enmeshed in our society. Liberalism asserts the sovereignty of the individual and social reason and enthrones Rationalism in the seat of authority. "It knows no dogma except the dogma of self-assertion." You will learn in this book that the non-logical thinking of liberalism which infects so many people today is the rebellion of the human intellect against God. This book contains the answers to the questions that people today are almost universally asking, "What has happened to our society? What is wrong?" I highly recommend this book..

Excellent, Indispensable Work By C# -Why I Read This BookI found this book through some conversations with my friend, who had read selections of it online. (The entire book is available online for free.) At the time, I was in the process of converting to traditional Catholicism, and I was interested in seeing Fr. Sarda's refutation of liberalism in more detail, especially since I had once self-identified as a liberal.-PositivesThis book defines liberalism broadly, as the rejection of God's - and subsequently, the Church's - authority. Thus liberalism is really wider in scope than mere political liberalism. Two points have really resounded with me. 1) Since Satan was the first to reject God, **Satan was the first liberal**. 2) Because all Protestants reject the Catholic Faith and the Church's authority, **all Protestants are liberals**. I find this second point rather ironic when reflecting on American politics, where we constantly and erroneously describe the Protestant "fundamentalist right" as conservative. In fact, they are extreme liberals.Fr. Sarda also addresses those who reject the Syllabus of Errors, which nearly all self-described "Catholics" do today. These people are liberals who reject the Church's authority. His discussion is pertinent to the Novus Ordo (those who follow the Second Vatican Council), who reject many of the previous Church teachings on such topics as religious freedom and salvation (i.e. ex ecclesiam nulla salus). Because the Novus Ordo rejects Church teachings, it is just as liberal as Protestantism.-Negatives?None. Liberals will either hate this book because of their own bad wills, or they will be converted.-Final ThoughtsI may some day buy a case of these books to distribute at my chapel. I believe this book is especially important because many of those who consider themselves "traditionalist" Catholics have fallen into liberal errors and may not even realize it. This book is highly recommended.

The second most enlightening book- after the Bible By Greg Lopez Before reading this book, I was neoconservative (often called a "classical" liberal). That is to say, I accepted the very basic principles of Liberalism while rejecting some of the more radical elements established during the 20th century. After reading this book, however, I can now say that I am a "classical" conservative. Don Sarda reveals in an easily understood manner the errors of Liberalism, especially how even the smallest amount of it is poisonous. Neoconservatism is just the first step in the process that produces the philosophies of communism, radical feminism, and other errors of "modern" society. Liberalism is a Sin articulates the idea of a Catholic state well, and explains how human reason is not and should not be the sole arbiter of what becomes law or what opinions we should hold. Though it was written well over 100 years ago, everyone, especially conservatives, should make it one of the books at the top of his or her to-read list- if only to see what 19th century conservative theory was like.
